Hi,while reading bout SR flip flop i came across its truth table..I have seen that there are some uncertain states in SR flip flop...My question in real time where we will use this SR flip flop..because when there no input applied it will be in indeterminate state..WIll this not affect the functioning of the device where it is used??

Hi Harika,
Very good point. The thing with SR latches is that their invalid states are extremely unstable, so they end up stabilizing very quickly in a given position. The imperfection in the two gates makes them react differently, and ultimately one wins over the other. But yes, you don't know where it will stabilize, so you don't know your starting state.

There is no problem using simple SR FFs if you know that the input will never put it into the ambiguous state, that is what good logic design is about. If it is not possible, then a bit of additional logic will be required, or you use one of a number of other FF types that do not have the problem,

The SET-RESET flip flop is designed with the help of two NOR gates and also two NAND gates. These flip flops are also called S-R Latch.
