VHS Camera Battery

Hi everyone

I bought a VHS camera on Ebay, and as expected the original battery won't charge so you have to have it plugged into the wall at all times. Finding a replacement battery is difficult considering how old the camera is (~1988) and when you do it costs more than what I payed for the camera...

My question is would it be possible to use a more modern battery with the same power rating/amperage/voltage (I should mention I am not an engineer!)? I'd love to be able to use this thing outside.

There are battery companies around (they are often in the business of supplying battery packs for current devices) that specialize in reloading old battery packs. Not saying they could do your one, but search around on the internet and try and locate one locally,
