Q Factor of Pi Network Impedance Match

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knew how to analytically calculate the Q factor for RF matching networks like the Pi network here: https://www.eeweb.com/toolbox/pi-match/

I apologise if this is a really basic question, all the literature that I have been able to find only gives methods for simple RLC circuits in series. The fact that it is part of the applet makes me think it must be a very simple thing to calculate but I have just been struggling to find anything that would help me do this.

Hi Kevin, thank you for that. I was not aware of this paper and it has helped a lot.

Comparing some calculations with the applet, it looks like the applet must either use Q1 from the paper or the Qbw. Using Qnew gives something very different to the applet. My question now would be: which do I trust?
