Hello,

Why the negative portion of a sinusoid still exist in a Positive Diode Clipping circuit (voltage measurement across diode)?

Was expecting only 0.7v to exist for the diode operational voltage

I think its explained in the reference you shared.
"During the negative half cycle, the diode is reverse biased (cathode more positive than anode) blocking current flow through itself and as a result has no effect on the negative half of the sinusoidal voltage which passes to the load unaltered. Then the diode limits the positive half of the input waveform and is known as a positive clipper circuit."

I see now. In my head, I was thinking the clipping need to occur at the source. Which would required the placement of the diode and resistor to swap. If they swap, would the circuit still consider a clipping circuit?
