Power Supply for New Years Ball using batteries

I have 12 - 5630 LED strips containing 600 leds per strip.  Each LED runs .4 watts at 12V. which means i need 240 watts per strip. I have currently split them into sets of 3 so each one will require 720 watts per section. I have tried running a combined series and parallel battery pack(2 sets of 4 batteries parallel and then created a series to increase the voltage) that uses 6V lantern batteries. But i am not seeing a change. what is the correct way to wire this. I am a beginner and have no experience with electrical engineering and have learned everything from googling so if i am going about this all wrong feel free to let me know.

I think you will find that the batteries aren't up to it.
720W at 12V is a lot of amps. The batteries will be dropping most of their volts across the internal resistance, and probably be getting quite warm is my guess. Could you please supply the battery specs.
Wiring batteries in parallel and then series is not going to work well, the weakest battery will upset the whole chain. Look up articles about putting batteries in series and parallel.
My guess is you need a mains based converter of some sort,

Thank you for the input i think i am going to try to build something this year that i can power using an extension cord connected to the house. I am also gonna try to use a RaspberryPi to control the LEDs this coming year.

OK, make sure that it is an isolated system, it should include a transformer, either mains or in a SMPS, flyback, for example,
