Electrical math value

Hey all

I just started a electo-mech engineering program and i had a qustion about the math i was hoping to get cleared up.

The assignments ive done so far have listed millamp or milavolt as the vuale and the answer has been something like 0.398ma or 1.459mv. My qustion is how do these vuales translate is 0.398 almost 400 millamps or is it less then half of a millamp? also when pluging in numbers for a equation for say 3k ohms should i be putting in 3 or 3000. math was never my best subject haha

0.398mA is 398 uA, or .000398 A.
You are not consistent with your units in asking the question, but assuming that you mean "translate is 0.398mA or" puts it close to 0.5mA
With respect to plugging in numbers, if you are entering numbers into a calculator, then normally you would enter all the zeros, or more commonly in multiples of powers of 10**3, see the wiki article below. There are short cuts that can be taken, but with where you are at present, don't use any.

If you are doing this course, I strongly suggest you do some remedial maths or you will rapidly get left behind, maths is a major part of this type of subject,
