I have heard that there are a lot of differnces between through hole resistors and resistors. However, I did not trace down the exact reasons for that on the network. Could you please make a detailed explanation for that ? Thanks in advance.

I'm a bit confused. I think what you are referring to is the difference between through-hole and surface mount. Well if that is the case, it is just the termination and mounting style. https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/resistors/types-of-resistors
