Hi all,

I tried to convert a BPF from Lumped components to Transmission lines and the simulation result was different. I don't know why... I attached here doc file with some relevant information.

Can someone explain why the difference?

This is one of those "reality" issues that I am fond of! Lumped components (I assume you mean L's and C's) mostly are well-behaved in-band and out-of band; transmission line stubs have multiple resonance and anti-resonance zones throughout the RF spectrum, and thus behave very differently from lumped-component designs. I didn't have to look at your data to know that was the "problem"!

I can't read .docx files. Could you post the file in .pdf?Emitter-coupled logic ECL is designed to work in a 50-ohm transmission-line environment. Decades ago, I built an oscillator by connecting the input and output of an ECL inverter together using a length of transmission line, long compared to the inverter propagation time. When powered-up, the oscillator ran for a minute at the fundamental frequency, then switched to the third harmonic.

I think that regarding transmission lines, since for any n*lamda/2 the impedance is the same (periodic) AND THE SAME for Transmission line constant lenght when frequency change and multiplied.
