I want to take a power cable and cut it in half. I then want to crimp a plug on each cut end and then be able to connect those two plugs together - in other words, there's a male plug on one cut end, a female plug on the other cut end, and the two can be connected to complete the circuit like it was before cutting the cable.
I am also building a relay board, and its purpose is to break/connect the power from the supply. Most of the connectors I find feature one type of plug (i.e. male) and one type of receptacle female). Instead, what I'm looking for are pcb-mounted male and female receptacles to match female/male plugs (respectively) that were crimped onto the cables.
Does something like this exist?
The reason I am trying to pull this off is because I want to have the option to use the power cable as a stand-alone item without a "gender-changer" adapter, and I also want to key the connectors such that you can only plug the supply end of the cable into one receptacle on the PCB and the output end of the cable into another receptacle on the PCB.
Ideally I'd like something that has a latch. We're talking low-voltage here, so something the size of a standard plastic computer Molex connector, but 2-pin.
Thanks!
Mike
