device that cuts off power of apliance if working for more than 2 hours

Hi

Is there a divice in the market, type of cut off swith that if an eletric water pump for irrigation is continuously
working for more then 2 hours (for example) it will cut off the energy of the motor (until manually powered on again)? 
Safety procedure in case some pipe breaks or accidentally opened faucets

Hi Pedro-A digital time delay relay will do the job for you.  As an example, look at a Crouzet OC1R10MV1 or OL1R10MV1 . These relays can be set to operate after a programmable time, up to 10 days. A couple things to watch out for:  Make sure the time delay relay you choose will operate on the voltage you supply to the pump, and make sure the contact rating is high enough to handle the power required by the pump.  If the contacts are not big enough, just add a contactor, so the relay switches the contactor and the contactor supplies power to the pump.-Rick

I've heard that unplugging things like phone chargers and appliances saves electricity, but a friend told me recently that it doesn't save enough to be significant. He says I do not need to worry about "energy vampires." What does he mean and is this true?
