Manually testing a hydraulic filter pressure switch with NO NC contacts and 24VDC wiring

Have a hydraulic filter with  NO NC contacts (wired NC). When the filter is clogged the pressure switch will open. We're retrofitting the filter with another style, but no one knows if the pressure switch is even serving it's purpose. We also have no prints for this machine and I am new to this job. The question is how can I test the pressure switch manually? It's only two wires. I located the wires inside the electrical enclosure. Can I remove the wire coming out of the switch and directly touch the 24VDC wire to see if it will switch state without blowing a fuse or creating any downtime?

Since this is a NC switch, if you remove one wire, you will create an open circuit (similar to what would happen if the switch opens). So you should see a change in state just by removing the wire. This will test the system response.To test the switch itself (once you have removed it from the circuit), you should just be able to use a multi-meter to measure the resistance. Then test with and without pressure to see that it switches.
None of this should cause a fuse to blow.

The first thing is safe from your side, so Safely disconnect the device from the process and it controls.Second thing is to do connect the calibrator or DMM to the common and NO (normally open) output terminals of the switch. The DMM or calibrator will help to measure an "open circuit".Third step to connect the pressure switch to a pressure source such as a hand pump connected to a gauge.I hope it will be helpful for all.
