We are installing a DMX-controlled dimmer for use with some lighting in stage/ballroom. There is currently a wall-mounted dimmer (non-DMX) for those lights. We would like to provide lighting control (via wall-mount dimmer switch) for the less technically-oriented of our residents, while adding the DMX control for the techies.
The suggestion has been made to simply leave the wall switch in place and add the DMX-dimmer - we'd end up with both dimmers attached to the lights. Note that In that configuration, then, it would be possible for both dimmers to be calling for a different light level.
Is such a design feasible? Are there other components that would be required to make it workable and safe? If it is feasible, what will be the result of the two dimmers asking for differing levels? E.g., are the voltages additive?
Would appreciate any help/guidance you all can provide - thanks!
