    Hello
As in the topic of what is Spdif out not long ago I bought a computer and noticed just this and I do not know what it is for, could someone answer me? :)
And one more thing, I have a power supply with a large fan and it makes a lot of noise, does anyone have advice on how to mute it?

As far as I know - it's probably a digital audio output. I know that in sound cards - for example in the old SoudBlasters AVE there were SPDIF outputs and it was just a digital audio output without the D / A converter.

    Replace, or reduce rotation speed.
Temporarily cleaning and lubricating may help.

I cleaned the fan and you can tell me how to reduce the speed of spin?
and what is digital audio, i.e. what can you connect to it? :D because I'm not kumaty, I'm in such things

and to lubricate it, it's not my plot, I would break it sooner: d

You can connect to a home theater with SPDIF IN.

Exactly - home theater, or any other amplifier with a D / A converter. Most home theater amplifiers have digital inputs, but there is probably an advantage of optical inputs, i.e. fiber-optic ones - you won't connect to one anymore.

oh ok thanks, i don't have a home theater, maybe someday I'll buy it :D

ok thanks, you can close the topic or whatever :)

So the sound goes from the computer to the home theater, or vice versa?

I am talking about SPDIF Out, so from the computer to, for example, home theater.

Topic summary

SPDIF Out is a digital audio output commonly found on sound cards, such as older Sound Blaster models, allowing connection to devices like home theater systems or amplifiers equipped with digital inputs. Users can connect their computers to these systems for high-quality audio transmission. To address noise from a power supply fan, suggestions include replacing the fan, reducing its rotation speed, or temporarily cleaning and lubricating it, although the latter may not be feasible for all users.
