    Hello
I wanted to ask if you need to charge a new car acid battery.
I just bought a new battery and after a few days of work it discharged to a large extent. So do you need to charge it after purchase

or there is something that sucks electricity out of it when parked.

Hello! As your colleagues told you, check the charging as soon as possible and if you do not know what and how to eat, just to the electrician
In the future, if you are not sure whether to replace the battery, it is really worth checking the charging because it does not cost PLN 20 to replace it every month and you must remove the defect because the new one will also not work P

If someone is doing short stretches, it's worth the investment with a daytime running light. The ideal solution, although more expensive, are LED lights. But the use of 2x21W gives big energy savings compared to, for example, H4 2x55W.

The alternator, especially in winter, has a hard time charging the battery right after start-up. If someone has a less tightened belt, you can hear a squeak. To join this light, it is known.

For me it is very clear when the battery is in a weaker condition. If I start the engine and my radio turns off, it means that it is undercharged. If the radio does not turn off - it's ok.

    Hello
If I drive short distances of approx. 10 km, leave the new battery for charging overnight or put it in the car.
Immediately after the purchase, I connected it to the rectifier according to the indications were about 30% of the charge, after 3 hours it is kind of full, but due to the way it is used, I do not know whether to leave it or put it in the car.
Charging in the car is correct, there was no chance of firing on the old battery after the night (even when it was completely disconnected), but when I drove up a bit, it was enough for one start, so here it was ok.

    PS
I do not know if the charger is weak, old battery, as I said, after a few kilometers it could be enough for one time, but after charging all night, it did not start the engine 8-O , connecting the charger directly to the car:? after 1/2 hour it allowed to start it - an attempt to start the engine immediately after connecting the rectifier failed (but the rectifier may not have the power to start the engine itself).
Is it possible that the battery was discharged while disconnecting from the charger and connecting the clamps (the order of disconnecting and connecting the cables was correct at 99%)?

This applies to both the alternator and the rectifier, if the battery gets 14.2 V it will be fully charged. If the charging voltage is lower, even a week of charging will not saturate it.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the necessity of charging a new car acid battery after purchase, particularly when it discharges quickly. Responses indicate that while a new battery typically does not require charging immediately, a significant discharge suggests it may not be receiving adequate charge from the vehicle's alternator. Factors such as short driving distances, heavy loads, and potential electrical drains when parked are highlighted as possible causes for the battery's discharge. Users recommend checking the charging system and ensuring the alternator provides sufficient voltage (ideally around 14.2 V) to fully charge the battery. Suggestions include using energy-efficient LED lights to reduce load and consulting an electrician if issues persist.
