Computer Boots Up But Monitor Remains Blank Despite Troubleshooting Attempts

Why does my computer boot normally but the monitor stays blank after a reset, even after trying the graphics card, RAM, BIOS reset, and cables?

The fault was the motherboard; after replacing it, the computer started working normally again [#5790875] A useful check was to measure the PSU voltages on the Molex connectors with the computer actually turned on; the reported values were 5.15V and 12.14V, which pointed away from the power supply as the main cause [#5774569][#5775356] Earlier advice also suggested trying another power supply and checking the CPU socket and motherboard for damage or swollen capacitors [#5768233][#5769358] Since the PSU rails looked normal and the symptoms persisted, the motherboard was the most likely failed part [#5774067][#5773427]

I know that this problem has been raised many times, but in most cases it was related to graphics, and for me it is not.

I will describe everything from the beginning:
The computer reset while watching a movie, I restarted it, I continue the movie and then reset again but nothing was showing on the monitor. From now on, after starting the computer, everything works as normal, but the monitor does not display anything.

    What I did:
    I reset the BIOS
I tried different graphics and the processor
I disconnected all cables and reconnected
I tried different ram settings (I have 2 dice, I tried each of them individually in each of the possible slots)
    Unfortunately, nothing helped

I checked the monitor on another computer and it works fine.

    Configuration:
    ASUS P5B board
    Core2Duo E6300 1.86 GHz
    ram 2 x 512 MB DDR2 800Mhz Patriot
    GeForce 7600 GT Asus 256 MB DDR3
    ThermalTake 480W power supply

What could it be? I'm counting on your help. Thanks in advance.

PS If you need any more information to identify the problem, please ask. I will try to provide it on a regular basis.

For me, when the CD went, it was the same, rather to be replaced

The point is, I'd rather be sure. Buying a new album is not a problem, but I don't want it to turn out to be okay, and something else is bad and moneyed down the drain.

Is there any relatively simple way to check if the board is working?

Do this: take the simplest meter, measure the voltages on the molexs.
Does the board squeak when booting (i.e. what does pc-squeeker do)?
Does the disc squeal at all (check it carefully if the capacitors are swollen by chance).

The first thing a colleague has a power supply? (company, model, power) Does the graphics work? Does the graphic have an additional power port? Is the port (if any) connected?

Can you explain what molexes are? Ooh
The board does not squeak, the capacitors are not swollen.

Have pity and read the first post before you say ok?

Can you explain what molexes are? Ooh

The plugs at the ends of the wires coming from the power supply that you connect to disks, CD drives, DVD drives, etc.

    greetings

I understand that I have to do this with the power connected and the equipment turned on? What values should I get?

I measured the tensions on the molexes. There is 0.41V on the yellow cable and 0.00V on the red cable. So what conclusions? Power supply or board? Or maybe both?

Friend woto0 recommended to replace the power supply and wrote

is it the replaced one you measured or the one you used,

Power supply for sure (it should be 5V, 12V and 7V)
and as for the disc, you can also assume that the bios has fallen, so that the reset will not help and you have to try to upload the bios again.
Look for "Updating the BIOS" topics on the electrode.

And the + 7V, where did my friend invent?

Well, now I noticed my mistake: /
I do not know how it happened, but I only cleaned the processor socket and did not replace the power supply. I will try to organize one immediately and check it out.

Okay, I have a 350W power supply. Not too weak? I will swap soon and see.

If the power supply does not help, it must be a motherboard. I had the same symptoms. I changed the disc and everything is ok.

Ehh this 350W power supply is some old one and I think it lacks some of the cables it needs. Tomorrow I will buy a new power supply, if it does not help, I will continue to advise.

Er ... but you measured with the computer turned on (In a walking sense, not just plugged in)? If so, it looks like a power supply.

As for the later posts, for the common user usually a 350W power supply is enough.

Not. I checked only when connected to electricity. It's matter?

Please measure the voltages as described on the page I provide. Without providing the results, please refrain from further pointless discussion and filling the counter with meaningless posts.

Tensions checked. When the equipment is on, they are 5.15V and 12.14V. So the motherboard?

The computer is already flashing. It turned out that the problem was the motherboard. I replaced it and everything works fine. Thank you for all your help.

Topic summary
