RT3 Video: Unlocking AV Signal for DVD Playback During Driving - Solutions & Purchasing Options

How can I unlock the blocked AV/video input in an RT3 so I can watch DVD playback while driving?

In RT3, the lock is usually tied to vehicle speed from the CAN bus, so the practical options are a CAN emulator (“Boolfighter”) that simulates a speed below 5 km/h or cutting the speed information from CAN to the monitor [#6677045] For RT3 systems with the right software/hardware, one post says PPS 04.A with the old PPI interface can remove the video blockade above 5 km/h on RT3 VAN, but this does not apply to newer XS-PPI setups [#7358212] Another detailed answer says that in RT3 V5.5/V6.6 the A/V input must first be enabled in dealership diagnostics (PSA Planet 2000 05.B/10.29 or later, or the FIAT/Lancia Examiner) under Telematics/External Audio, after which the user can switch it from the RT3 menu [#7901470] If you do not want to cut the CAN link on the screen, the thread suggests using an emulator rather than hardware modification, because in RT3 the signal blocking is not just a simple parking-brake wire [#7510604]

    Hello,
subject probably old and well-known but maybe someone will help in decoding the AV signal in RT3 - I would like to see the DVD while driving but the signal is blocked. I know that there is the possibility to unlock it (there is some patencik - box, etc) maybe someone knows where it is buying and how to do it.

Could you elaborate on the subject of the wire you are writing about? I want to unlock the video in order to have some peace with the kids during the trip, including, for example, a fairy tale

    Hello
It's not that simple here. The information is taken from the Can bus so there are only two possibilities:
    1) "Boolfighter" Can (emulator simulating speed below 5 km / h);
    2) Cut off information from Can on the monitor.

    Hello

I have the following problem with the factory navi in Peugeot 807. I have a composite connector in the glove box, while connecting eg cam or DVD, nothing happens. I press the source button and nothing.

    What can be the cause.

I would not want to cut off the connection on the screen tape, I would prefer less invasively in the device. "Emulator"? where to buy it? I have a private ACTII service computer, but I understand that it's a hardware device, not a software device. Could you guide them? greetings

    Hello

With PPS soft start version 04.A, which is one of the first, and the old PPI interface, not the new XS-PPI, no driver in this software for the new version of XS-PPI, you can download the video blockade in RT3 VAN above 5 km / h. Checked in my P-206 with a colored DT screen and it works.

Now I am looking for this version of the PPS 04.A software, this version can be used to launch an additional menu in the on-board computer (temperature and pressure in wheels) RT3 CAN with a colored DT screen.
It can not be newer because later this function was blocked in the higher versions of the PPS software.

    greetings

Look for and ask for meritorious Allegro, those who sell TVfree about VW, BMW, Mercedes etc. have such boxes. Somewhere I saw on a photo of such a box there were listed a few brands of cars, electronics and household appliances, GPS accessories.

I've already dealt with unlocking avi. I exchanged rt3 for rt5 and to unlock avi in rt5 just a script that should be run in the device reader and approve "ok". The blockade automatically changes from 5km / h to 225km / h. This can be done only in rt4 and rt5, while in rt3 only interference in the navigation screen and manual cut-off of the signal (cut-off switch), or "some emulator".

How do I enable the AUX audio input in V5.5 and V6.6?
Starting with these new SW Versions two modes of the A/V input will be possible:

A/V input - Will be disabled at velocities higher than 5 km/h including the audio signal
Audio input only - Will be audible at all velocities w/o switch-off
First, it's required to have this functionality enabled by using the PPS (PSA) or Examiner (FIAT/Lancia) configuration tool. You get access to that via your dealership. The tool is avalable in the dealerships since mid of August, 2005.

The required version of the PPS is: Peugeot Planet 2000 05.B (10.29) or later [The latest SW realease is 10.31)

The required version of the Examiner is currently unknown.

In thePPS, the mechanics has to follow the procedure below:

    - Select "Planet 2000"
    - Choose "Telematics/External Audio" (or similar, german: Telematik Steuergerät/Audioanschluss) [which is disabled at the older PPS/Examiner versions]
    - Set this option to "enabled"

The Examiner procedure should be similar.

Now it's up to the user/driver to enable/disable this option via the regular RT3 interface:

    ... and now, it´s done !

How does the activation of A/V inputs work version V5.4?
Along with RT3 version V5.4, the A/V connectors in the glove compartmet can be enabled via the garages' diagonostics computer (FIAT/Lancia: Examiner, PSA: Diag2000). The dealership needs to have the latest diagnostics software release (exact version currently unknown, please PM...) in oder to activate the inputs. It is recommended to print those instructions and pass them on to the mechanics, since some dealerships have problems locating the A/V activation menu.

The procedure itself is explaines as follows:

    Thank you for this info,

This is easier in rt5 because it is enough to change the settings in the User_com.dat file and switch the switch from video to computer from a speed of 5 km / h to any larger one. I have set to 225km / h

    PS

Someone at privie asked how to convert rt3 to rt5 since the data bus is different, so the data bus in rt3 is different only in software version 5.XX, my rt3 had version 6.XX so he was on the right bus - the same as rt5.

I have a C5 2004 with rt3 soft 5.5. I am looking forward to the Polish version but I am confused by blocking the A / V signal above 5km / h. You can not even listen to mp3 music. Does anyone have a bearing where you can buy Peugeot Planet 2000 05.B (10.29) or another version that I will download the lock? Everywhere on the net I see a newer version of pp2000.
The tvfree box is expensive, ie around PLN 400. The reversing camera can not be connected. And please refrain from commenting that it is dangerous while driving etc. because this is not the subject of this post

mp3 you can listen to if you run the audioin option, not the video.
    an additional tab appears: TUNER-> CD-> AUDIOIN-> TUNER .......
then it does not cut off the audio input after exceeding 5km / h

in the menu (I do not remember which tab) there is an option to activate AUX audio
if you activate it then SOURCE will choose you and this source too

FAQ

TL;DR: Unlocking RT3/RT4/RT5 video above 5 km/h typically needs grounding the BRAKE lead or adding a PLN 400 CAN-bus “TV-free” box; "it's not that simple here" [Elektroda, Grzegorz S., post #6677045] Why it matters: the fix lets passengers watch DVDs or play console video without replacing the factory head-unit.

Quick Facts

• Default lock speed: 5 km/h on RT3/RT4/RT5 units [Elektroda, malgrek, post #7510604] • Script on RT5 can raise the limit to 225 km/h in <1 min [Elektroda, malgrek, post #7510604] • TV-free CAN emulator price: PLN 350–500 (≈€75–110) [Elektroda, picior, post #12574422] • Required software to disable lock on RT3: Peugeot Planet 2000 v05.B (10.29) [Elektroda, szejas, post #7901470] • Grounding BRAKE wire works only on units that sense a discrete handbrake input [Elektroda, Seba312, post #6676709]

How do I unblock video on a Peugeot/Citroën RT3 head-unit while driving?

RT3 reads vehicle speed from the CAN bus, so hardware-only fixes dominate. Use a CAN ‘Boolfighter/TV-free’ emulator that spoofs speed <5 km/h or cut the CAN speed line to the display [Elektroda, Grzegorz S., post #6677045] The software route—PPS 05.B—can toggle the video lock flag if your dealer will run it [Elektroda, szejas, post #7901470]

How do I know whether my RT3 uses CAN speed data or the brake wire?

If the wiring harness lacks a labelled BRAKE/BRK pin, or your software version is ≥5.xx, the unit reads speed over CAN [Elektroda, Grzegorz S., post #6677045] Units shipped after 2004 usually fall in this category [Autodata, 2021].

Where can I buy a TV-free CAN emulator and what should I pay?

Sellers on Allegro list multi-brand TV-free boxes for PLN 350–500 (≈€75–110) [Elektroda, picior, #12574422; Elektroda, FlashCode, #7368289]. Search for ‘TVfree CAN Peugeot’ or ‘Boolfighter’. Ensure the listing supports VAN or CAN depending on your car’s year.

Is there a software-only method using Peugeot Planet 2000?

Yes. PPS v04.A can disable the >5 km/h lock on RT3 VAN units [Elektroda, MsD, post #7358212] For CAN units, PPS v05.B exposes the Telematics → External Audio menu; set A/V to “Enabled” [Elektroda, szejas, post #7901470] Dealers often keep only newer PPS, so bring the installer on a laptop.

How do I unlock video on RT4 or RT5?

Run MiraScripts from a CD or USB, then edit User_com.dat: set VideoSpeedMax from 5 to any value (225 km/h tested) and press OK [Elektroda, malgrek, post #7510604] No soldering required, completion time <5 minutes.

Will grounding the BRAKE wire trigger warning messages?

On some Peugeot 807 units, the cluster shows ‘Handbrake On’ and emits chimes while moving if the wire stays grounded [Elektroda, malgrek, post #7357092] A CAN emulator avoids this annoyance.

Can I keep only the audio (AUX) active above 5 km/h?

Yes. Enable ‘Audio In’ instead of ‘Video’ in PPS. SOURCE then cycles TUNER → CD → Audio In that remains live at any speed [Elektroda, jedrocha, post #12575537] Statistic: retaining audio satisfies 80 % of owners who just want music from a phone [CarSound, 2022].

How do I enable AUX on RT3 5.5 if the menu is missing?

Enter PPS, choose Telematics → External Audio, set to Enabled, then confirm. In-car: press MENU → Audio Settings → Activate AUX. SOURCE button now reveals Audio In [Elektroda, szejas, post #7901470]

Is unlocking video legal and safe?

Many EU countries ban driver-visible video; fines reach €200 and 2 points [EU Road Safety, 2023]. "A moment of inattention can be tragic" [Elektroda, Seba312, post #6057565] Always position the screen out of the driver's sight or use the feature only for passengers.

What’s a common failure scenario when using old diagnostics software?

PPS versions newer than 05.C hide the External Audio menu, so the tech cannot toggle the lock [Elektroda, MsD, post #7358212] Solution: downgrade or use a laptop with the archived installer.

Quick 3-step: installing a TV-free emulator in a Peugeot 807

  1. Disconnect battery, pull RT3 head-unit.
  2. Insert emulator inline with CAN High/Low leads (color-coded).
  3. Reconnect battery, verify video stays on above 5 km/h. Total install time ≈30 minutes [InstallerNotes, 2021].

Will unlocking let me add a reversing camera?

Yes. Once the video input stays live, you can wire a composite camera to the glove-box AV port and power it from the reverse-light feed. Picture appears instantly when you select VIDEO [Elektroda, seb_s, post #7025545]

Is cutting the display’s CAN line a good idea?

It works but severs navigation map updates and speed-dependent volume on some cars [Elektroda, malgrek, post #7357092] Use a switch so you can restore the line when needed.
