Hello, I have a Golf IV and I have just noticed that for some time now something is happening with my air conditioning. Namely, the problem is that when the car is cold, i.e. when I leave the garage and it is about and less than 10 degrees Celsius outside, everything works all the time, but when it is hotter outside, the air conditioning works for about 10 minutes and then turns off. Then I go away again for a bit (it's difficult to say how long, as it can vary) and it switches on for a while and then switches off again. And so everything repeats. From what I've noticed, when it's not running the fans don't work and I can't feel the compressor or compressor switching on because there's no slight jerking. And in the same way if I try to switch it on with the button it does not work and the compressor does not switch on. The vag does not show any errors. Has anyone had a similar problem or know where to start checking?

What is the time between switch-off and switch-on? A few seconds, minutes?

It varies from 10 minutes to half an hour, and if the car is stationary for a while and cools down, it usually always switches on...

Probably too much refrigerant or a dirty condenser.

Is there too much refrigerant, i.e. too much gas? Do I clean the condenser myself or do I have to go to a professional and if so, where is it?

refrigerant = gas ;) The condenser is before the radiator, clean it and check that the fins are not bent.
Is the fan on? What is the temperature of the dryer just before it switches off?

The fan doesn't turn on just now.... I will have to look and if I remove the condenser nothing will happen to the factor?

If you remove it, refrigerant will escape. Check the fan: fuse, relay, sensor, fan motor.
If it doesn't turn on, it could be the cause.
    Specify the temperature.

The problem seems to have been solved... The radiator was probably dirty. I washed it with water under pressure and so far everything has calmed down. So please do the same for your radiator and let me know if it works, because there was a lot of dirt in my...

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around an issue with the air conditioning system in a Golf IV, which operates normally in cooler temperatures but shuts off after approximately 10 minutes in hot weather. The user reports no errors on the VAG scanner. Responses suggest potential causes such as excessive refrigerant, a dirty condenser, or a malfunctioning fan. The user later resolves the issue by cleaning the radiator, which had accumulated dirt, leading to improved air conditioning performance.
