    Hello,
I was looking for a similar topic, but I didn`t find any, if there is already one, I apologize in advance.
Two days ago, while playing, my computer suddenly turned off. When I tried to turn it on again, the computer turned off about 2 seconds after turning it on. I unscrewed it and felt the greatest heat coming from the power supply. I thought it was the power supply`s fault, so I connected another one (Modecom Feel II 350W or something like that), but the problem did not go away. In addition, when I cleaned the graphics card and tried to start the computer, this time it turned off not after 2 seconds but after about 5. Can the graphics be the cause of the failure?
    Equipment I have:
    - main board Gigabyte GA-945GCM-S2L
    - Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 processor
    - Gainward GeForce 9600GT graphics
    - Tracer 4Life 400W power supply
I have had each of the components for 2 years and there have been no failures before.
Thank you in advance for your answers and best regards.

    Rest in Peace
First of all, check the operation of the set on the POWER SUPPLY.

The reason may be, among others, a too weak/damaged power supply or an overheating processor.
Remove the GF9600 and, if you are sure of the efficiency of this Feel, connect it and run the computer using the integrated graphics.
Check if the processor cooler fits well (one of the push-pins could have fallen out).
If you have the opportunity to borrow a decent power supply, go for it.

It looks as if the power supply was not receiving the "good power" signal.

I turned on the computer without any memory inserted and, surprisingly, it didn`t turn off, only the loudspeaker was beeping (but that`s normal, he). So probably either the memory needs to be replaced or the entire motherboard?

And did you read what I wrote until the end? I also checked with another power supply and the computer behaves exactly the same...

I once had the same symptoms, I replaced everything possible, and in the end it turned out that it was defective (in my case) 1 memory, after replacing it, the computer is still working

Feel is worth the same - check it with a real power supply!

check the RAM memory, as the predecessor said, if you have 2 sticks, use each one separately... it may also be the CPU`s fault, it happened to me when the sensor of the CPU burned out and in the BIOS it said 150*C and immediately reset it, if it was then reset it. BIOS will then disable the option to turn off the computer at a certain temperature. CPU...

Without a decent power supply, we have no point in continuing our production in this field. Tracer and this feel are only suitable for throwing them after dogs.

Forget about these types of statements, because the testimony you give yourself with them is not a flattering one.

Because he got almost the same, if not worse, power supply.
As my colleagues write - check with a real power supply, because this is the first cause of problems that needs to be ruled out in order to think about RAM, CPU cooling, etc.

I understand that you removed the skin on the heat sink under the CPU fan, it must have formed there after 2 years, check the electrolytic capacitors around the CPU, they can fail, in the power supply too.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a computer that shuts down shortly after startup, with the user suspecting either the power supply or the graphics card as the cause. Initial troubleshooting included replacing the power supply with a Modecom Feel II 350W, but the issue persisted. Users suggested checking the power supply's functionality, ensuring proper CPU cooler installation, and testing with integrated graphics. The possibility of faulty RAM or a defective motherboard was also raised after the user reported that the computer did not shut down when started without memory. Recommendations included using a reliable power supply, checking RAM sticks individually, and inspecting the CPU cooler and surrounding capacitors for issues.
