Instead of sending the net to everyone, set in the WiFi tab look for the WEP / WPA option.
Enter a password - quite long and such that your roommate will not guess it, then connect to your network and you will be asked for this password. You enter the same, you set it in the router. Additionally, set a password to access the router's settings.

Only I already have the password. It was given on the router. He also has that password. Now I just don't know where or how to change them. Can someone explain it to me very carefully because I am green in this topic. Should I connect the router with a cable to the computer when changing the password? Thank you for your help :) greetings

Enter the restriction by MAC recognition of addresses and neighbor's address do not add to the list ...

    Welcome,
First you need to login to the router

You need to check what IP (from what pool) the router is giving you
Start / control panel / network connections / status (active) and service tab and there you will write your IP and other parameters that your router gives you.

You need to find the default gateway and write down this address (e.g. 192.168.1.1), then you normally type it into the browser, then ask you or not for the router password, the standard logins and passwords are admin admin, I don't know about your in case you have to read it, then, as your colleagues informed you. You are looking for the WIFI or wireless tab, and encryption, it is best to set the Encryption type to WPA-PSK and there, in the window or frame, enter the password you want, if you say that you have a password set, it will be there. you just change yourself, you give save / save and it is important that you remove the old connection from the default connections, so that the router name does not automatically try to connect to the old password because the SSID with a different password does not always think that it has a different password and will try to connect to the old password, then you just search for your network and enter the password and Koniec

MAC filtering would be good, if a colleague will want to, I will write what and how.

I do not know this router model. There are usually two tabs: setting IP addresses (static, dynamic, pool scope in the case of DHCP and so on) and firewall.
Set the addresses to static, the firewall has to define which addresses can / cannot. The default settings are 0.0.0.0, which is any lan computer.
On your machine, change the IP manually, set the firewall only to your own address and it won't be a problem.
Some private address. Class C, 192.168.0.0/24 is enough
DHCP is used with more machines on the network and usually DHCP is set by default.
As the previous speaker said, MAC filtering. It is effective, and it is very effective. Changing the card in the computer also reconfigures the router.
    I recommend static IP filtering.

Thank you for all your help. I have already logged into the router. Question for "dawid88_vip": how to remove old connections from default connections? What should I go into, where should I look for it ?? And also a question for "karwo": how to set a password to access the router settings ?? Where can I find it on the computer ??

The router access password is set in the router itself, look for the security / pasword tab. You must know the current password, but you probably know it, because you entered its settings .... :D

And could I somehow check on my computer if my roommate is currently using the Internet? is it possible?? And if, while changing all these passwords, my roommate uses the Internet at the same time, won't it change with him? I have to wait when he is not home and then change it ?? I'm sorry for asking so many questions, but I don't know anything about it and I don't want to make a mistake. thank you all :)

We remove the following from the default connections

If it is XP, then you enter the icon where you search for networks and there should be a tab on the left, change the order of preferred networks and there you delete the profile from the name of your network (SSID)

And in Viscie / or Windows 7 in the same place (near the windows clock) you have the monitor logo and you enter the center of the network and sharing, on the left there will be a manage wireless networks tab and there you select the name of our network which we want to remove and at the top you have the delete button :)

Now the only thing left to do is connect to the network again so that our changed settings were correctly broadcast from the machine

DAwid88 You still need to have access to the neighbor's computer :D
It is best to do operations on the router if it is not there. After all and resetting the router it will just lose net.
In the router there is a table of currently active in the network - if there are only two of you, you can easily see it by, for example, the name of the computer - it should be readable.
The change of the access password to the router (administrative) does not affect the current connection status, but setting the filter to MAC-addresses and entering only yours there - after the reset (to save all changes), it will cut it off the net.

You can read your Mac by typing in run cmd (a black window will be displayed) and ipconfig / all. Look for the physical address you are using - it is a sequence of characters, six groups of two, separated by dashes.
If the neighbor is not a hacker, it should be enough ...

By logging in, I conclude that the author of the topic is a woman.
If this is overwhelming you, order a home visit, some computer store will do everything for you.

but here it is not about the neighbor, because he will not have access after the password change, because I will show him an error and blocked connection, and it is only about her default automatic connection profiles, so that she removes the old one and puts a new one, the neighbor will not work, and even if I will also delete it, as I wrote in my previous post, it does not know our new password :)

of course, after changing the password and saving it, turn off the router for a moment and turn it on so that it will disconnect the neighbor's connection.

thank you all :) You've helped me a lot. I have already changed my password. Only MAC filtering failed, I don't know why. My Mac just won't connect to the internet after filtering. I suppose you need to reset the router but I do not want to do it because I am afraid that I will have to configure it from the beginning and I will not do it anymore. I think changing the password is enough. Thanks again to everyone :)
    greetings

Topic summary

To block internet access for a roommate using an Echolife HG520b / HUAWEI router, users can follow several steps. First, log into the router's settings by entering the default gateway IP (e.g., 192.168.1.1) in a web browser. The default login credentials are often "admin/admin." Once logged in, navigate to the WiFi settings to change the network password to something secure that the roommate cannot guess. Additionally, implementing MAC address filtering is recommended; this involves identifying the roommate's device MAC address and ensuring it is not included in the allowed list. Users can also check the list of connected devices to monitor internet usage. If MAC filtering causes connectivity issues, resetting the router may be necessary, but this could require reconfiguration. It is advisable to perform these changes when the roommate is not home to avoid disruption.
