    Hello.
My mother-in-law gave me an archer 415 sewing machine with instructions. However, when I started it (general cleaning and looper settings), it turned out that it did not catch the bobbin thread. I found the settings on another forum. I was setting needles and tensioners. I have no idea how to catch the lower thread, so I am not able to figure it out on my own. I am asking for help in setting up or at least explaining the principle of catching the lower thread. Maybe there is some setting I haven't found. One more machine was taken apart by his father-in-law for cleaning and I'm not sure if he did it professionally and to what extent he took it apart. Please help.

Check that the needle reaches the bobbin with the thread. Try to lower the needle.

It cannot be too low because it will be bent or broken by the cylinder. Put the thread into the bobbin case and the bobbin on the machine, see if it pulls the needle and thread out of the bobbin case.

After installing the upper and bobbin threads, just like everything should be and one turn, the upper thread is on the looper, after the second turn, when I pull out the upper thread, the bobbin thread is not taken at all. How is it to get the thread from the bobbin case? Are there any settings for the hook itself because I was setting the needles?

    Hello.
Simply put, when the needle begins to return to the top, the hook should approach it. During this time the thread deviates from the needle and the hook must hit the hook between the thread and the needle. Without the thread, bring the hook closer to the needle and lower the needle so that the hole in the needle is slightly lower than the hook's edge. The needle should be close to the hook, but not hit it.

The looper catches the upper thread but does not want to catch the lower thread at all. So I think the needle is well positioned. it must be something on the bobbin or looper side

If the bobbin thread tensioner is well adjusted and the hook picks up the upper thread correctly, it is virtually impossible for the machine to stop working. After catching the bobbin thread for the first time, pull it under the presser foot and then try to hold the two threads slightly taut with your hand. It is best to regulate the quality of the stitch on a newspaper, although there are different schools in this matter.

He can not. Still doesn't catch anything. I did as you advised. Is there a hook adjustment? How does it tangle the bottom one?

The only possibility is that the hook reaches the needle too late. If the needle thread is caught in the looper, it should be pulled around the looper, rather than being pulled down and returned in the same direction. In this case, turn the hook slightly to the left.

The looper principle is shown in the Wikipedia article.
How long is the thread coming loose from the thread? If it's too short, it won't work.

nothing protruding from the bobbin case is about 10cm. still doesn't catch anything. Probably, it will not end without a good workshop. I have lost my nerve for today. the task was too much for me. thanks for the answers. if you have any other tips, please write.

If the looper catches the needle thread, it is normally not possible for it to stop working. And where is the thread that comes out of the bobbin case after inserting it into the machine? Give me 20 cm, it won't hurt.

I am not able to set up the machine. it still does not catch the lower thread and the upper thread will probably not do without the service. Thanks to everyone for your help.

Maybe let's try it differently. We put the bobbin case without thread. We put on the upper thread, pull it 10-15 cm beyond the needle and hold its end. Slowly turn the machine wheel with the other hand, while watching if the hook catches the thread. If so, we turn the circle further, the looper with the thread goes down. Here it should slip out of the hook and be pulled out by the needle as you continue to twist it. If the thread travels back caught in the hook in the same way, it means it is positioned incorrectly. When looking at the bobbin case, a visible thread should be pulled around it. Please don't give up so easily.

Thanks for the exact explanation. In my case, the thread goes back up. So I have to set the hook. Another thing. Which hook tooth should catch the thread. I am a layman in these respects, therefore I am asking.

    Just like in the link
    http://serwismaszyn.republika.pl/chwyt.html
in the first photo, i.e. the sharp tip passing next to the needle. Now, for peasant reason; the shaft comes out of the basket in which the hook is mounted towards the pulley. At its end a short lever is placed perpendicularly with a cube walking in a fork. This item is held in place with a screw. Loosen the screw a little and move the hook slightly with the blade forward, tighten slightly and check that the thread travels around the bobbin case without jamming and is fully pulled out by the needle. After adjusting, tighten the bolt quite tightly. Before all this, you should carefully inspect the hook. If there are burrs on it after being hit with a needle, sand the damaged surface thoroughly, preferably with sandpaper to completely remove the burrs. Only the smooth surface of the hook allows it to work properly.

Thanks to everyone for your help. Finally, I fixed the machine. It turned out that the machine-in-law was completely dismantled by the father-in-law, which made it lose its factory settings. But it is not everything. When I restored the settings, the upper thread still did not catch the lower thread, but it returned the same way. The obstacle was sheet metal. The hook is held by a metal plate that holds it in position and presses it against the hook housing. It was bent too much, which prevented the thread from passing. After I took more slack and used machine grease, everything returned to normal. Now the machine sews beautifully and is suitable for an anniversary gift for a wife. Thank you for your help. I consider the topic closed.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around troubleshooting the Łucznik 415 sewing machine, specifically addressing issues with the machine not catching the lower thread. Users provided various suggestions, including checking needle positioning, ensuring the bobbin thread tension is correctly adjusted, and verifying the hook's alignment with the needle. It was emphasized that the hook must approach the needle at the right moment to catch the thread effectively. After several attempts and adjustments, including addressing a bent metal plate that obstructed the thread's path, the original poster successfully restored the machine's functionality, allowing it to sew properly.
