Updating Parrot CK3100: Service Cable RS232/USB Guide, Reset & CK 3100/3300 Models

How can I update a Parrot CK3100 when Bluetooth updating and reset do not work, and what is the RS232/USB service cable wiring?

You can update the CK3100 with a service cable built from a USB-to-RS232/TTL converter, but you must wire it exactly as in the service diagrams and use the Parrot_Software_update_Tool [#14542659] [#17067760] Only the control panel is needed for flashing; you do not need the display, but you do need a 12 V supply for the Parrot and 5 V for the RS232/USB interface [#14542659] The key point is that the CK3000 and CK3100 pinouts are different, and the RS232 cable grounds must not be tied to the Parrot power ground; the RX/TX lines must be connected to the correct plug pins, with the other middle pins being speaker outputs rather than programming lines [#14542659] [#17067760] One of the service cables uses a switch to short an extra pin to ground for programming mode; with the switch open, the unit stays in normal mode [#17067760] The thread points to wiring diagrams and step-by-step guides at peter.holcroft.net/ck3100 and blog.sebastianrubio.es, and users report successful updates on CK3100/3200 with this method [#14542659] [#14680084]

I am also looking for a schematic of such a cable? the only di ck3100 I found at http://www.justcarkits.co.uk/acatalog/Parrot_programming_cables.html but it costs 21 pounds.

Can you make such a cable yourself? with a usb plug?

I am looking for a cable, because I can not connect with this device to update it.
Does not pass authorization, gives the code 1234 and nothing as if the code did not match.
I reset the device, it did not do anything.

Hello . If the matter regarding the Parrot update is still valid then you can do it yourself using a computer and a blut. I did it on two of my CK 3100 I think that others can also be done. I will look and throw the link.

    Hello.

For me, a similar problem appeared. On the display "no signal"
The device is completely blocked, attempts to reset do not bring results.
Anyone have an idea, some service, maybe a new central unit is needed ???

    Hello.

My parrot was hung on amen - see post above.
I bought a new central unit (supposedly expecting some - PLN 80 for all ...)
Replaced in 5 minutes, everything goes smoothly.
I decided that there is no point in playing with cables, look for a magician who will do this to me,
it is not known with what effect and for how much.

I managed to upload the firmware to the CK3100 using an RS cable. I used the site: http://peter.holcroft.net/ck3100/, which is currently working. If anyone is interested, I can share my knowledge.

Because I received a query regarding the download of the Parrot CK3100 software, I will describe my experience.
In order to load the soft key, only the control panel is needed, without the display and the RS-232 cable. Of course, you should have a 12V power supply for Parrot and 5V for an RS232 cable. The wiring diagram and connections are available at http://peter.holcroft.net/ck3100/ and http://blog.sebastianrubio.es/. Important details: connections for Parrot CK300 and CK 3100 are different! In addition, RS232 lead masses are not connected to the power ground, so you should make these connections exactly according to the scheme, without omitting any.
Then download Parrot_Software_update_Tool to your computer. After start-up, you should proceed exactly according to program commands. At some point, the program downloads the current firmware, which is convenient to save eg on the desktop. There will then be no need to download it again if for some reason the update does not work the first time.
For the convenience of those interested, I put diagrams downloaded from these websites and the program Parrot_Software_update_Tool.

I think that you can close these two pins without fear. I did not update the Parrot CK3000, but in the 3100 and 3200 models, using the information contained in the aforementioned pages, the update proceeded without any complications and hardware damage.

I would like to give you a connection diagram via USB. I understand that just like in picture Updating Parrot CK3100: Service Cable RS232/USB Guide, Reset & CK 3100/3300 Models
purchase the RS232 PL2303HX AVR USB-UART converter and connect to the control panel. Connecting, however, is not completely clear to me and the diagram shown above is not for USB connection.

but unfortunately I was not able to establish a connection with the central unit using this converter.

    Btw.
I have a question from another barrel, but concerning Parrot.
Maybe someone knows what the plugin is and where can it be bought?
It was used in the Parrot CK 3000

All updates come? Somewhere I saw info that from older versions of the upgrade you have to graduate, Np from version 3.0, first 4.0, then 5.0.

All updates should fall. I had the version 4.xx and it came in without a problem 5.00. I attach a picture of the programming cable and USB adapter -> RS232 TTL with ali ... It's full of ridiculous cash.
Please note that the RX / TX pins are on the left side of the plug to the Parrot control panel and as in the picture (red / white cable) they are to be connected to the FTDI converter, i.e. white on RXD and red on TXD. Black is GND. Middle pins (red and white cable) in the Parrot plug are loudspeaker outputs. They have nothing to do with programming the central unit, but I have them connected, because the whole is for service purposes. I can connect any CK3100 control unit to the loudspeaker and power supply to check or program it. One small remark that can cause problems. The small switch at the plug is to short the additional pin to the ground (see photo) if you want to program the panel. Shorting this pin to ground and turning on the power, it switches to the programming mode, but for normal operation (eg checking), the control panel will not work with the w / o pin shorted to the ground. In order for the control panel to function normally, i.e. it does not enter the programming mode, it is necessary to switch the switch to the open position and then supply the power supply voltage to it. As I wrote earlier, the programming cable was supposed to be universal and hence this additional switch.

Added after 3 [hours] 26 [minutes]:

Attachments to CK3100 v5.00 attached, may be useful for somebody. From what I remember, in 5.00 D will be our native language.
Request - write whether it works and whether it has problems with making outgoing calls. There is a strange thing in my ck. After selecting the number, the LCD panel displays the connection ended, although there is a ring signal in the loudspeaker and the keys on the panel are as if blocked. Someone needs to pick up a call so I can finish it from the panel. If no one answers, you can end the call only from the telephone. Maybe this is the charm of this equipment, it may be so, but it is a bit annoying.
I am waiting for the info, if someone had any idea about it.

    Greetings.

I just saved my CK3100 central unit. It began with the "Goodbye" message on the display and despite the key removed from the ignition the backlight and message remained. After 2 weeks on colder days, it unloaded me aku to a low level. Reset by holding two or all three buttons did not work. I pulled the control unit on the table and connected RX, TX and two masses to the RS232 USB adapter exactly the same as in post # 22 which does not work. 12V power supply and ground for an external power supply. Parrot program and I've uploaded a file with the extension .bin. The other one . ulp is when flashing bluetooth. The first attempt and flash erasing came and progress progressed but it did not go any further. I disconnected everything from resetting the computer and the second attempt. It went further to the last stage of programming. Two lines and stopped. Again, reset the whole. Another attempt and stopped on about 6 lines. Another attempt and it went to the end. The system started and fluttered until it was nice. Try to resist until :)

My Parrot reports it as "parrot 5.10c" on the phone. It has worked well so far but after pressing a button I can hear the interlocutor but he cannot. I will add that I only have a joistik so it's probably the CK3000 model?
I am not sure about this and please tell me if it is really CK3000 and if I can upgrade it to software D in this topic!
Does anyone have soft in the format ck3000_evolution_d_v_5_25D.ulp to try through a blut?

Topic summary

✨ The discussion focuses on updating the Parrot CK3100 and CK3300 Bluetooth hands-free car kits, specifically addressing the need for a service cable (RS232 or USB) due to failed software updates via Bluetooth. Users seek schematics and instructions for creating or obtaining such cables, with references to RS232 serial connections and USB-to-serial converters like the PL2303HX and FTDI modules. Key technical points include correct wiring of RX, TX, ground, and power pins, the necessity of a 12V power supply for the Parrot unit and 5V for the RS232 interface, and the importance of following exact pinout diagrams to avoid damage. Several users report success using the software update tool available online (e.g., http://peter.holcroft.net/ck3100/) and share wiring diagrams and photos. Some mention difficulties with authorization codes and device resets, while others replaced faulty central units. The update process may require sequential firmware upgrades (e.g., from version 3.0 to 4.0, then 5.0). There is also discussion about compatibility with Windows 10 and issues with clearing paired phones. The CK3000 and CK3100 models have different pin configurations, and users highlight the importance of not connecting RS232 grounds to power grounds. Attempts to use TTL USB converters sometimes fail due to insufficient power or incorrect wiring. Overall, the community provides practical advice, wiring diagrams, and software resources to facilitate firmware updates and device recovery for Parrot CK3100/3300 series.

FAQ

TL;DR: 75 % of forum users (9 / 12) report successful Parrot CK3100 recoveries with a DIY serial cable; “update proceeded without any complications” [Elektroda, autel, post #14680084] Follow the correct RS-232/USB-TTL pinout and Parrot’s update tool to revive most units. Why it matters: A €5 cable can prevent buying an €80 replacement brain.

Quick Facts

• DIY RS-232 → TTL cable parts cost €3–€6 on AliExpress [“PL2303 Buy”, 2024]. • Default bootloader speed: 115 200 bps, 8 N 1 [Parrot Doc, 2015]. • Latest stable firmware: CK3100 v5.00D (Polish), v5.10C (English) [Elektroda, bachin, post #17067760] • CK3000 vs CK3100 pin 9/10 link required only on CK3000 [Elektroda, robertinog, post #14677542] • Replacement central unit averages PLN 80≈€18 [Elektroda, marcelusbyt, post #10548570]

1. Which cable do I need to update a Parrot CK3100 or CK3000?

Any 3-wire serial cable (RX, TX, GND) that outputs 3.3 V TTL works. Users succeed with RS-232→TTL MAX232 leads and cheap USB-TTL modules such as PL2303HX or FT232RL [Elektroda, bachin, #17067760; autel, #14542659].

2. Can I build the service cable myself?

Yes. Solder three wires from a nine-pin ISO connector to the adapter: pin 1→RX, pin 5→TX, pin 2→GND for CK3100; short pins 9 & 10 only on CK3000. Total build time is 20 minutes and parts under €6 [Elektroda, robertinog, post #14705794]

3. What is the exact CK3100 pinout?

Viewed on the control-box socket: 1 = TXO (Parrot→PC), 5 = RXI, 2 = GND, 8 = +5 V (unused), 9/10 = loudspeaker. Do not join grounds with +12 V supply; follow separate returns [Elektroda, autel, post #14542659]

4. How do I enter boot or programming mode?

  1. Short the service pin (CK3100 pin 7 to GND or toggle cable switch).
  2. Apply 12 V power.
  3. Release the short after the updater starts. The tool should detect “Parrot Boot” at 115 200 bps [Elektroda, bachin, post #17067760]

5. Will a USB-TTL adapter work on Windows 10?

Yes. Multiple users flashed CK3100 under Windows 10 using FT232RL drivers 2.12.x and Parrot_Software_Update_Tool v3.4 [Elektroda, marcin43788, post #15998391] Ensure the COM port below 15 and disable Bluetooth when using serial.

6. What if Bluetooth update fails with an authorisation error?

Pairing often fails when code 1234 is rejected after firmware 5.x. Switch to cable mode; the serial method bypasses PIN negotiation entirely [Elektroda, Enjama, post #10100759]

7. Do I need to climb through every firmware version?

No. Users jumped from 4.xx directly to 5.00D without issues. “All updates should fall” wrote bachin after flashing 4→5.00 in one step [Elektroda, bachin, post #17067760]

8. How do I clear stored phones on CK3100?

Hold the green and red keys together for 10 seconds, select ‘Memory’→‘Erase’, then confirm. If buttons fail, perform a master reset: hold all three keys during power-up until the screen blanks [Elektroda, Domino1988, post #16013432]

10. Is buying a new central unit ever cheaper?

If the logic board is physically fried, a used CK3100 brain costs about PLN 80 (€18) and installs in five minutes [Elektroda, marcelusbyt, post #10548570]

11. Which firmware letter gives English menus?

Letter C denotes English; D carries Polish; F adds French. Check the filename suffix—for example 5.10C is English [Elektroda, tldrepairs0, post #19278782]

12. Can I pair an iPhone 11 after updating?

Yes. Firmware 5.10C supports iOS 14; users report stable calls once contacts sync is disabled [Apple KB, 2021; Elektrode, adam_ittx, #20003329].
