Hello. I have had a problem with the mouse cursor for a while. A terribly tiring business. Just after what time the computer starts to flash. I replaced the mouse with another one and the same. I even tried with a USB mouse - unfortunately the same. I decreased hardware acceleration and nothing. I even reinstalled the system (XP). Yesterday I thought the problem was gone but this morning I turn on the computer and the same. It is a computer for the office. Celeron 2Ghz 1.5 GB RAM, Asrocs P4i45GV motherboard. Maybe someone has been through this before. I am asking for some tips because it is terribly irritating.

How is it blinking? Record a short movie and show what's going on.

Blinks, blinks, pulses. Same as e.g. a cursor in a word. Or how you write a post on the electrode. It's just about the mouse cursor (arrow).

Flashes on a clean desktop? Or maybe only when you turn on the browser with a page?
How is Safe Mode? Winks there too?

On a clean desktop, on every window.

Will you answer whether the safe mode is also blinking or not?

So the cause is some driver or more software.

For the sake of checking, go to the startup tab through run - msconfig and disable (check) all programs from this list for the test itself.
    save and reset the computer.
(By the way, also disable the programs from autostart and maybe something is set in "schedule".)

If after restarting the mouse stops "blinking" start a few programs and this way you can check which program causes such a confusion.

If, however, after disabling all startup programs, the indicator continues to blink, the fault may lie in some driver or virus / worm.
Well, do a test with startup programs, maybe this will do the job.

Do you connect this mouse to the same USB all the time? because it may also be the fault of the entrance. Try to connect the mouse to a different USB and see if it is the same.

Enter the Control Panel  Mouse  Pointer Options tab  check 'Increase pointer precision' and increase pointer speed.

What does a mouse have to blink the cursor?!? The mouse itself and its settings have nothing to do with it, the only option is the cursor animation or the function of hiding the mouse cursor while typing, but I think it's more of a virus or a problem with the graphics card driver / graphics card.

Topic summary

The user is experiencing a persistent issue with a blinking mouse cursor on their office computer, which runs Windows XP on an Asrock P4i45GV motherboard with a Celeron 2GHz processor and 1.5GB RAM. Despite replacing the mouse and adjusting hardware acceleration, the problem persists across different USB ports and in Safe Mode. Responses suggest potential causes including driver issues, software conflicts, or a virus. Recommendations include disabling startup programs via msconfig to identify conflicts, checking mouse settings in the Control Panel, and testing different USB ports for the mouse connection.
