The question asked in the title of the topic is not so stupid. After all, the author does not ask "will I run Windows without a processor". With today's level of technology, it should be possible that the motherboard signals (even via a PC speaker) the lack of a processor, memory modules, etc. Meanwhile, in most such cases, the boards are "dead" (although functional). Why is it not technically possible to check the efficiency of the board in the absence of a CPU? Are CPUs added to motherboards for free, that it's such a nonsense to run the motherboard without a CPU?
Let's imagine a modern computer monitor, which is not connected to the computer and displays nothing (not even the word "No signal"). Today unthinkable, right?
It used to be said that a well-designed device should be resistant to human stupidity (sorry to the author of the topic, this is not a personal objection, it's about a principle). Has anything changed in this regard?
