Hello, as in the topic, instead of oil, I poured 2L of gasoline; there were about 6 -7 liters of oil in the tank (I did not move from the place), when I found out - I called a mechanic I know, whom I do not trust a little ... I added 44L of oil, I got home, but there was a problem - after consultation, the second mechanic told me not to drive it, but to pour it - WTF ?! what to do what do you advise? The car is GOLF 4 (2001) TDI 101KM (pump-injectors). What to do, the car is not mine, I don't know whether to admit what I did or not !? Father's car is coming back on Monday; if something goes wrong I'm dead !!! Please advise something ...

Do not panic! 5% of gasoline has not hurt any diesel so far, it is even recommended to add "Pb" during the winter so as not to precipitate paraffin.

Hello, I personally wouldn't worry about it, as long as you put what you need under the cork, at these times you don't even know what is poured in at the stations and sometimes it is such a crap that a few percent of gasoline in crude oil will not do anything wrong. Probably the second mechanic wanted to be safe and he did not want to be bad, so he advised to drain the contents of the tank in order not to endanger the engine. it's good that you added oil to dilute the mixture, for sure the specialists will also confirm that, once you have ridden such a drug, a lot should not hurt the engine. Maybe someone else will advise who is deeper in the topic.

I have to decide something, how something is left for me - Sunday and almost all Monday to some reaction. Then Father comes back ... I have ... totally. If no luck, then no luck, 3 days ago - I had a bell in my car, Father is not here, so I borrowed him and I have ... since I had a car, it's always a "gas" ... And I know, you have to be a total retard, but too many worries and trouble lately ...

    Hello.

Don't worry and keep driving calmly. I always add 5 liters of gasoline to a 60 liter tank in the winter to my Peugeot 307 when the temperature drops below -15 degrees.
I have never had problems, and I have been driving this car for 8 years now

If you still have concerns, I will elaborate on what can happen when we run our diesel engine with gasoline. As petrol is a lighter fraction of crude oil distillation than diesel fuel, it burns faster and at a higher temperature (however, it is a derivative of it), which in most cases ends with overheating of the piston crown and head and, consequently, mechanical damage to the engine. The conditions for the production of fuels are described by standards regarding many parameters, such as calorific value, calorific value, heat of combustion, but it is not a pharmacy recipe and some spreads are allowed. Unfortunately, fuel producers, then transport companies and finally sellers do their best to stay at the lower end of these ranges, so adding petrol is like refining the fuel. An example may be the comparison of fuel consumption at Polish stations with the well-known signboard and similar stations beyond our western border. I know from my autopsy that the consumption of German fuel is about 8-10% lower, so its energy value must necessarily be that much higher.
You just have a Diesel V-power in your tank. ;)

Don't worry about anything - nothing will. I worked abroad and we brought something there every day because the client had filled up with gasoline instead of diesel. We emptied the tank to the 5l diesel tank and the starter. He flickered a little and fired - no one was cleaning anything there. It happened that we did not even replace the filter. The customer was going to the station, refueled and the problem was gone. The cars were different (even the police cars).

Don't do anything more than what you've done. This is an older generation diesel and it can digest such fuel without any problems. I repeat: do nothing or you will make some other mess. Just think about what you will say when your father asks you why you gave him such a gift and you filled it up :) :)

Treat it as a winter where you need to add a little more so that the paraffin does not separate from the oil.

Okay, thanks to everyone who wrote me something and advised me ... I traveled a bit of fuel, so that Father would not guess ... Golfik seems to run like before, well we'll see ... for now I'm taking the bus :) I'm waiting for my BUNI to be made, but I feel something ... that if I run something for oil, it will remain the BUS. Thanks again for the advice, best regards.

If you treated the abovementioned petrol with oil, you would only be left with a tow truck and cleaning the system. Flooding the diesel with such a small amount of pb will not hurt him. In winter, such a thing is the norm, in the winter older diesels consumed even 50/50 proportions - and to make it funnier, this was even recommended by the manufacturer (Mercedes in the case of w124).

Golf 4 tank has 55 liters 20/55 = 36% Pb. If you have the option, drain 20l from the tank and refuel with diesel fuel again, and this will be drained into the tank at the next refueling.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a user who mistakenly added gasoline to a diesel tank of a 2001 Golf 4 TDI, prompting concerns about potential engine damage. Responses from various users suggest that a small amount of gasoline mixed with diesel fuel is generally not harmful, especially in older diesel engines. Many users recommend not panicking, as such mixtures can be common in winter conditions. Some advise adding more diesel to dilute the gasoline, while others share personal experiences of similar incidents without significant issues. The consensus is to avoid drastic measures like draining the tank unless the gasoline content is excessively high. The user expresses anxiety about the situation, especially with the impending return of the car's owner.
