hello, can someone explain the concepts to me

    SNR
    AGC
    BER

and what their best settings should be.

at the moment I have an Nbox 5800 decoder with enigma 2
    SNR - about 60%
    AGC - about 70%
    BER - shows 0

and some HD channels are jammed, e.g. HBO HD or Canal + HD, but the rest of HD works normally, sd channels also work well

as i noticed on different channels i have different signal percentages

I have an old DIORA antenna, probably 120cm (not damaged), but the converter is new QUAD GOLD EDITION 0.1dB HD

    Thanks for the help

    strength
    quality
You have a wrong antenna position. Enter the channel that is sticking to you and then check the antenna settings and you will see that you will be below the values you entered. Combine so that the strength and quality oscillate between 90 and 100 and nothing will jam.

    so yes

    SNR - force (should oscillate between 90% - 100%)
    AGC - quality (should be between 90% - 100%)
    BER - ?? I still don't know

Strength is a parameter that you set by adjusting the antenna and the strength is to oscillate 90-100, you check on all channels on those HDs that did not cut you and those that were cut.

BER is Bit Error Rate - the less the better.

he wants to replace the satellite dish
    what do you recommend ??
90cm is enough ?? I think about CORAB only if it will not be too small, taking into account that my signal only catches max 80-90% and not on all channels.

Give me a model of a good plate

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the concepts of Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR), Automatic Gain Control (AGC), and Bit Error Rate (BER) in relation to HD channel jamming experienced by a user with an Nbox 5800 decoder using Enigma 2. The user reports SNR at 60%, AGC at 70%, and BER at 0, while experiencing issues with specific HD channels like HBO HD and Canal + HD. Responses suggest that optimal SNR and AGC values should be between 90% and 100% for better performance, indicating that the antenna may need repositioning. BER is defined as the rate of bit errors, with lower values being preferable. The user also considers replacing their old DIORA antenna with a new model, seeking recommendations for a suitable satellite dish size and brand.
