Hello. I have browsed through various forums and opinions, but there are few clear answers. So I'm looking for the opinion of someone who refurbished their windshield by polishing. It is not about damage, chipping, etc., but about the millions of "nanorods" created by washing and operating for many years. Driving at night and looking through such a "screen" is a nightmare.
Or just replace? I read such inserts that some mirrors, lenses, large losses in thickness, some drills will be made. Somehow I do not believe it, after all, the almost immeasurable layer will be polished. Thanks for the answers.
Compare the cost of such polishing and the cost of a new glass from a replacement.
Well, it's not like that, of course. The cost of polishing is about PLN 150, the original glass, the sticker with the registration number remains, no mess, etc. New glass (travel): PLN 300 and assembly, it is done already PLN 400 together with the sticker .. It is a pity to pack extra money into the old rack.
When you polish yourself, you can polish yourself with a piece on the left side and you look better. I did it with cerium powder, but it's a time-consuming job.
I have access to a varnish polishing machine, but I do not know if the fur needs a different one and I am ready to try it - it is about the driver's side, to drive for 2 years ..

So what effect did you get and where did you buy this complexion, or aledrogly? What did you polish with, a rag, a machine, a fur coat? and how much time?
The same velcro fur is enough for 1 glass. Cerium with aledrogo. You have to sip the brewery to avoid boredom, because the time depends on the depth of the cracks, 3-5h.
Oh crap! long. Scratches are a relative concept, they are not perceptible, they are some kind of ragweed from washing with a cloth or something, visible at night and in the rain when illuminated from the opposite direction, after passing the doormat. The glass is theoretically smooth.
Hi, Old topic, but I will answer that someone may need this knowledge. Firstly. Polishing the glass is a tedious job and it is worth entrusting it to a company that has some experience in it. And I do not write this, just like hundreds of entries on this and other forums, that if you don't know each other, do it, just because the amount of PLN 100-200 is worth spending in the face of a few or even several hours of fighting with damage. Apart from delicate scratches, you will find hundreds of micro-spatters on the glass used. These are the effects of driving behind other cars in the rain or on a wet surface. Here's a tip - keep a distance, if only so as not to sand the glass. Getting back to the point. The first time you try to polish the glass with polishing paste, you will see a map of these splinters. You will see them, because in these microwells you get paste, which is mostly white. Only this will cut your wings, let alone after two hours of polishing with aching hands, you will find that I have almost no difference. There is no and it will not be, even after four. Such points need to be grinded first! Ok, but how and with what? I remind you that in workshops they already know this and have practiced it, but maybe when I tell you how, you will know it too. Okay. The glass is best sanded with abrasive cloth on a sponge with gradation 180 at a speed of approx. 2000 rpm. Ha, but this knowledge is just the beginning. You should know how to sand. If the glass will not be dismantled, it must be sanded in the central area with the necessity to smoothly lead the basin towards the edge of the glass. I showed it on movie . The point is to avoid the lens effect. If you disassemble the glass, we grind evenly all of it, of course. After rubbing what we want to wipe off, because we will probably find in half that the deeper damage may remain, change the canvas gradation to a higher one and slightly increase the grinding area to bring it out so that the grinding is uniform. When we do it, we repeat this activity again. Finally, we increase the speed to 2500 rpm and do it again. I remind you about the workshops that do it every day. We reduce the speed to 1200-1400 and go to polishing. Such rotation will protect us from the splash of paste. Put the paste on the felt in a small amount and, with a little water, polish it, checking that the felt paste does not dry out. We polish until we obtain translucency and check the quality of polishing after washing the glass. Preferably with halogen or a strong LED lamp. Until the result. If you do it in four and five hours, it can be considered a success. And now the summary. The cost of repair is: time to read this text, scratch your head is it worth it, kick yourself to the store for abrasives, find polishing paste online, borrow an angle polisher, because the grinder works at a higher speed and even with regulation, it is at the lowest revolutions with a load of several hours, none will withstand (I checked), car preparation, time to repair the windshield, washing the car. The price of materials and pain in the hands. If you still think it's worth it, go to work. Greetings, Andrew

If it is so difficult and time-consuming, how can a specialist do it for PLN 100 or PLN 200? Does he work for a beer or what? A few to several hours, as you write, so it turns out that a Polish specialist works for PLN 10 / H, or even less, because the materials also cost something.
Hmmm glass for the popular compact in replacement, the cheapest from 150-200 zlotys and replacement about 100. New glass without lenses, chips. If someone has a little oil in their head, they can change it in 2-3 hours.
A professional first of all removes small scratches or scratches from scrapers or doormats. This is the main activity of car glass polishing. The worst order of this type is the regeneration of an old broken glass. Usually it is done until the matte, scratches and micro-spatter come off the glass without the deepest ones. The time of the entire operation for a skilled polisher will be approx. 3 hours, but it requires a lot of experience. This experience and the perfect selection of tools and abrasives is the key to success. Let me put it this way. Give the average Kowalski paint and tools and have him paint, for example, a car door. How much will he do it and with what effect? And let it be done to the painter now. Do you understand the difference? Greetings, Andrew

Yes, with cheap glazing, regeneration does not count at all. Besides, it is genuinely easier to replace the glass than to polish it. I checked many times.

Propaganda!
The time from a few to several hours applies to amateur polishing and not to professional polishing. You are lost.

I am asking the moderator not to delete this post, although it is a bit ot. When removing the old windshield, the "experts" very often damage the varnish around the windshield and after a few years there is a problem with rust, a few years ago I bought a Mazda 626 2.0D for reasonable money, it still behaves perfectly but recently the stone hit the windshield and cracked. This glass was replaced earlier (I bought the car six years ago, the glass was already replaced, traces of rust were already there) but every few months, after washing the car, I poured the rust with an anti-corrosion agent. My mechanic scared me that the repair costs (glass replacement, sheet metal and painting) could be high. I started looking for a garage (Warsaw), two did not want to undertake repairs at all, one offered a price of about 2,000 (over 1/3 of the price of the car on Allegro), another wanted to replace the posts and paint the entire roof. In the end, I came to the garage literally a stone's throw from my home, the older owner looked carefully at the car, suggested the cost of repairing about PLN 500 plus the cost of replacing the glass (replacement), I left the car. After three days, the Fachman called that the car is ready for pickup, I saw it, THE REPAIR WAS PERFECTLY DONE, the paint around the shaft was perfectly matched, the paint transition on the roof is practically impossible, the damage around the windshield is welded out, the upholstery inside is intact, the sticker on the windshield is also perfectly stuck from the old one. The head of this website also restores old vehicles, I saw the company's employees in action, full of professionalism. I paid PLN 880 for the entire repair and the owner of the company apologized that the cost increased (?) In relation to the initial valuation because he had to additionally replace the gasket around the glass, painting the quite scratched right rearview mirror housing was done for free, I did not commission. A company not very well known, but I can recommend its services with all responsibility (I am not associated with the company in any way), I promised the owner that I would advertise it everywhere for QUALITY, if anyone interested in info on pw. Nowadays, a professional craftsman is unfortunately a rarity.
The time of the entire operation for a skilled polisher will be approx. 3 hours,
What next is beyond my comprehension. 100 PLN / 3H = 33 PLN / h = 7.5 EUR / H. Is anyone in Poland able to keep paying taxes for such a price? I do not believe.
You are going to a decent factory, they will dismantle, assemble, assemble plastics, vacuum them, no trace. They even take photos before and after the repair.
