Stuck Plug in New Electrical Outlet: Removal Methods for Ungrounded Jack's Dilemma

How can I remove a plug that is stuck halfway in a new electrical outlet?

Turn off the power, hold the socket housing, and pull the plug out while gently rocking it side to side; if it still jams, cut the plug between the pins and remove it in pieces. [#11813121][#11812336][#11816636][#11816799] One explanation is that the plug’s plastic sleeve/collar is catching on the socket edge or the pressure/contact plate because the spacing or diameter is slightly off. [#11812527][#11816799] If a straight pull only comes out partway, try applying slight torque and lateral pressure from different angles rather than forcing it. [#11812600][#11816636]

    Hello everyone,

I'm writing about a weird/stupid problem. I have a new electrical outlet installed. The problem is that when I first put the plug in without grounding, the plug is stuck in contact and can't be pulled out...

If reporting such a problem is not within the rules of the forum, I apologize in advance, but I have not found anyone on the internet who had a similarly strange adventure ... Of course, I did not pull the plug with all my might, and I can't unscrew the contact itself because the plug covers the screw .

    Please help

    greetings
    Jack

Hold the socket housing and yank, there is no force, it must come out.

Thanks for the advice, but I just tried it and it only comes out to a certain point and gets stuck. Ehhh, I love how after renovation there is a problem at the very end of the evening with the smallest crap....

Or maybe during this struggle, turn off the electricity? for safety.

Could you take a picture of this plug with the socket and put it on the forum??

Hello, maybe 2 screwdrivers insert between the plug and the contact and slowly double check?.

Gently move the plug from side to side and gently pull it towards you and it will come out.

Friend jhucal he hasn't logged in since yesterday, so he either dealt with the plug or ripped the socket out of the wall, along with the installation and....... darkness came.

    Hahaha (sorry - dark humor)

I had such a case. The spacing of the "pins" is slightly different than in the socket and the plastic braid at the housing is wedged.

I turned off the power, cut the plug between the pins in half with a hacksaw (I had nothing else) and it came out.

Topic summary

✨ Jack encountered a problem with a new electrical outlet where the plug became stuck due to ungrounded contact. Various users suggested methods for removal, including holding the socket housing and pulling, applying torque and lateral pressure, and using screwdrivers to pry the plug out. Some noted that the issue might arise from the plug's pins being partially covered with plastic, causing them to catch on the socket. Safety precautions were advised, such as turning off the electricity before attempting removal. One user shared a drastic solution of cutting the plug in half with a hacksaw to extract it. Overall, patience and multiple attempts were emphasized as key to resolving the issue.
