Hello, I have connected my computer to the TV with an HDMI cable to watch movies. The image is displayed on the TV but the sound is gone. What to do to make the sound come from the TV and not from the speakers?
    TV set:
LG Electronics (I don't know the model because I don't know where to find it)
    Computer:
    system: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1
    procek: Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 @ 2.33GHz
motherboard: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. G31M-S2C (Socket 775)
    graphics card : 1024MBGeForce 9800 GT
sound card: Realtek High Definition Audio

..model described on the nameplate on the back of the tv and you have to bury in the sound settings, set PCM if the sound quality is high. It's best to output the sound to the cinema, if you have one.

Release and after Hdmi to tv, then-Start-control panel-sound-you click on the tv icon and at the bottom you select set by default.

    Second way

Start-control panel-NVIDIA control panel-look for configure digital audio and check hdmi.

    Good luck :D

Most likely you have an incorrectly set up audio device on your computer. In order for the sound to appear on the TV, you must play the sound through the audio device on the graphics card, not through Realtek. In other words, you have to choose the right playback device (in your case integrated with the HDMI device, i.e. a graphics card).

    best regards

Krzysztof - there is no plate on the back of the TV, it is only on the side, but there is no model described there, only a terribly long code, I have no idea what and for what. The fact that I have to bury something in the options does not tell me anything. Because he's been rummaging in options for a week and I haven't found anything.
Intenso, the first way is impossible because, as you can see in the first screenshot, I only have 2 devices Speakers and Realtek Digital Output, I turned on both and there is no sound on the TV. And you have this 2 way on the fifth screen, and I have my LG TV selected, but it also gives nothing.
SP2UKP - describe to me how to set it up, because if I knew how to do it, I would not write this post.

You have to play the image on the tv to show the tv icon in the first way.

Yes, out of pure technical curiosity.

Is SPDiF (audio) from the computer's motherboard connected to an nVidia card that supports this HDMI connector?

Without this connection, no audio signal will be obtained through the HDMI connection.

Can you explain it to me because I don't really understand? what should i connect and how? and what is this SPDiF signal?

    http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/Manual/motherboard_manual_ga-g31m-s2l%28s2c%29_e.pdf (p. 30)

Connector SPDIF_O [2. SPDIFO | 3. GND] connect with a two-wire cable * to the two-pin (input, GND) connector on the graphics card (usually somewhere next to the SLI connector), example:

HDMI - No sound on the TV when connected to a computer with an HDMI cable

Use some program that can send a sound to Realtek Digital Output or just set it as your default playback device.

If so, use the search engine for "s / pdif" - discussed many times.

    * - maybe it collapses in the GeForce 9800 GT box, and if it is missing, adjust / buy something

Choose the correct output device - as in the picture below (you will probably have other devices, my card only has DVI-I, no HDMI). For me, the TV card sends a signal (that's how I connected it) to the sound card integrated with the motherboard and I take the external sound from the output of the audio card.
HDMI - No sound on the TV when connected to a computer with an HDMI cable
I looked at the specifications of the card with this chipset (you did not write what specific model it is) made by Gigabyte. And there is also no HDMI output, only DVI-I. Are you sure you have an HDMI output on the card or are you using a DVI-I - HDMI cable?
If the latter is the solution, the problem may be how the audio signal is delivered at the DVI-I output. There are no audio outputs in this standard and the manufacturer can do it in his own way (i.e. he outputs the sound on individual pins according to his own idea) (see here ).
By the way, you will get the best sound quality by using, in addition to the HDMI cable (only for the picture), cables (or rather optical fibers) on SPDIF connectors (then you take the sound not from the graphics card decoder - unless there is an SPDIF output on this card - but from the audio card, as long as has SPDIF output). This method of connection is especially recommended when using the amplifier for the so-called home theater due to its total immunity to electromagnetic interference (short circuits, mobile phones, DECT telephones, microwave ovens and other devices).

    Good luck

So I have to upset you, because I checked the graphics card today and I don't even have a 2-pin input to connect anything.

    Chipset Model - P35 / G33 / G31 (that's what I found)
Graphics card - as I wrote Nvidia Geforce 9800GT 1GB GDDR3 and I have inputs such as HDMI / VGA / DVI and I can connect to the TV via HDMI-HDMI cable.
PS: Your screen method doesn't work because it doesn't show me the sound from the TV ...
I have no idea why it doesn't work as it should. I also connected my father's TV and laptop via the same cable and everything works perfectly. I only choose myself from the control panel as a playback device for TV and there is a guitar.

Could you give us the name of the company that produced this card?

From the data I found about this card, there should be an SPDIF input there.

Jingle - in entry # 12, WojtasD clearly mentions it, he even posted a photo.

On the other hand, I am concerned that my colleague Oskar556 does not read exactly what he is advised to do.

Oskar556 - to be precise - what you have brought out of the computer from the graphics card are the outputs. Your task was / is to remove the computer case and check if the graphics card in your PC is connected to the computer motherboard. As WojtasJD described it in entry # 12.

You don't write who installed this card, and it often happens that the SPDIF connection is forgotten.

The SPIDF slot on the card is visible after disassembling the computer as if someone did not know.

well, I was looking for the SPDIF input in the same place as it was in the picture, and it was on the other side :D Forgive me for the mistake. I put photos of my card and this entrance.
So now it's enough to get the cable Wojtas wrote about. I should still be okay, thanks to everyone for your help and again, sorry for the mistake.

And yet something else :) I can't find this SPDIF cable on Allegro to order it. What is his name exactly? As I enter SPDIF, only such cables pop up:

Well, the world does not end with the Allegro. I saw the cables you need on Polish ebay. Use "SPDIF 2-PIN" or "S / PDIF 2-PIN" as the key to search for them, because that is how the cable is called.

    Good luck :)

No bullshit. For me, SPDIF solved the sound problem

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a user experiencing no sound from their LG TV when connected to a computer via HDMI. The user has confirmed that the video is displayed correctly but cannot get audio output. Various solutions were proposed, including checking the audio settings in Windows to ensure the TV is set as the default playback device, configuring the NVIDIA control panel for digital audio, and ensuring the audio output is routed through the graphics card rather than the Realtek sound card. The importance of connecting the SPDIF output from the motherboard to the graphics card was highlighted as a potential solution for enabling audio over HDMI. The user later identified their TV model as LG W2243 and confirmed the presence of an SPDIF input on their GeForce 9800 GT graphics card, leading to the conclusion that obtaining the correct SPDIF cable would resolve the sound issue.
