[Ubuntu 11/12] DMDE – how to run from terminal with sudo rights?

How can I run DMDE from a terminal with root (sudo) privileges on Ubuntu 11/12 live CD?

The thread does not give a working terminal command; the reported fix is to launch DMDE from the Ubuntu menu by double-clicking its launcher [#12007136] Another reply says the Ubuntu-live build already has DMDE under Programs/Accessories, so you can run it from there instead of the terminal [#12006823] One poster also suggests the failure may come from booting in user mode rather than root mode [#12007234] The same DMDE download was reported to work on Ubuntu 11.04, 11.10, and 12, so the issue seems to be how it is launched rather than the program itself [#12007612]

    Hello.
I have a problem running DMDE from a terminal on ubuntu 11/12 booted from a bootable CD. The last time I used this program was 2 months ago and then I was able to start it.

    Link to the program: Link

Sorry for such a trivial question, but I am not very familiar with this system. Before starting the topic, I used google, unfortunately I did not find the answer to my question.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I know that much ... it doesn't work. And when I run from a bootable cd, I don't even have to enter the username and password. I also tried like this:

and then typed the name of the program ... and nothing.
Could you download this program and try to run it?

Everything is fine with me, except for a different distribution. Write where you have the error and what the system is spitting out

Do you turn it on from the menu or via the terminal?

I downloaded it and it actually works :D Interestingly, the dmde downloaded from the manufacturer's website I also fired without a problem. On a regular ubuntu I had a message:
    Code: Text
Log in, to see the code

I wonder what could be the reason? DMDE on this linux is the full version?

Free version downloaded from the manufacturer's website.

Lack of access. Apparently you tried to boot from user level, not root.

Well, the problem is that I have a superuser. It enters the same commands as in the distribution you specify. After that, after entering the command, a visible change takes place (with the access path # etc).

On 11.10 there is no problem. I will download 11.04

    Added after 23 [minutes]:

On April 11th, no problem either.

It's hard for me to say where you are making a mistake. There are no miracles. Same iso.
    I downloaded from this link.
    http://releases.ubuntu.com/11.04/ubuntu-11.04-desktop-i386.iso
    Regards.
I do not download 04/12 anymore because it will probably be the same.

Topic summary

✨ The discussion revolves around running the DMDE program with superuser rights on Ubuntu 11/12 from a bootable CD. The user initially faced issues executing the program, despite using commands like `sudo` and `su`. Other participants suggested checking for error messages and provided links to a version of Ubuntu that includes DMDE in the menu. The user later confirmed that the downloaded version worked, but faced "permission denied" errors when using the version from the manufacturer's website. The conversation highlighted the differences in behavior across various Ubuntu versions, with some users successfully running the program on Ubuntu 11.10 and 11.04 without issues.
