    Hello,
I have a problem with my Golf V 1.6 FSI Sportline from 2003/2004.

Car from Italy, full service (history checked in the VW database), the course of the original - 109 425 km (I made in 2 months over 1000 km).

The problem is that - let me post my stories from another forum:

    Jul 21, 2013
Today I left the car and think "I switch the computer to average daily combustion" ... and I stand at traffic lights (200-250 meters from the garage, the engine was cold from the previous day) and looks like the combustion grows ... 22 liters, then every few seconds by 0.2-0.3 liters per 100 .... until the light changed to green and I had 26-27 liters.
I think something a lot but it may be so, because the average daily driving from the city is about 6.9 l (night, no traffic) - 7.8 (today, Sunday, small traffic). So generally burning decent - pour PB 98 on Orlen - always the same station in the city, refueled there the previous car, Police there refueling police cars (so they have good fuel).

I switched off the car after leaving the garage for about 2 km (it was from 80 degrees on the indicator and I went for quick shopping - up to 15 minutes).
I came back, I fired and ... sk **** n went out: / (I am terribly upset by my car, my Corsa B, despite 203 thousand km never disappointed me, I sold because they corroded the stringers) - but the second time I started, as if I wanted turn off but I gave him some gas and it was ok.
The revolutions do not wave (before changing the candles they waved - I set up NGK ZFR6S-Q).

I drove later on city roads (70-80 km / h) with approx. 6 km and ...

How do I start and run it evenly, but quickly - always like a warm engine - never on cold. It must always be around 90 degrees on the indicator.

Changing the candles I made throttle pics (according to the mechanic does not look bad yet, but you have to clean, but again He has no computer to do the adaptation ...):

I do not have a cable, but I think I will buy one ... I will not make a connection for PLN 90 (recently NOx, some error). It used to go out, but I replaced the battery and the same (2 km after changing the battery, the previous one was already 9V and was very old ... maybe the original from 2003. Charging is ok. DO NOT SAY JUST - they just said OK . Candles - it was ok until today (from 2 weeks ago).

    5 Aug 2013
about 80-85 km from the NOx deletion (week after city) and it turned on as I entered the garage. Late so I was not going to the mechanic (after 21)

EDIT: P1033 (NOx sensor - signal too small) - always the same. Mechanic puts a leak in the exhaust system (draws in air) ... The second fool probe has a slow resistance of 0.00 and after adding gas jumps from 0.00 to 2.00 (various readings are) and this in a circle ...

In addition, it showed: P1914 - brake assist pressure sensor - an unintelligible signal. Why ? The car drives normally, and on Thursday there was no mistake. I had insulated cables under the hood - at the height of the plastic cover of the engine, behind it - you can see a yellow tape. A mechanic, a month ago, when I was exchanging candles, he said that something was being touched, but he did not touch.

    11 Aug 2013
Again the check lit up ...

From the deletion I made about 180-190 km (recently route 155 km in one day, moderately 80-120 km / h, almost constant climat and side roads 30 km / h, average consumption from a computer 7 liters. Once without an air condition of 5.4 l / 100 km, but also without these side roads - is 1.6 liters per 100 a big difference?).

Probably the same mistake as last - the cable will come, it will write more.

I turned off the garage and switched on and off immediately. As I fired the second time, I gave him gas slightly, it did not go out. I pulled into the garage and revolted around 950, I think too much ... and I checked to 3-3,500. Turnover and after releasing the gas dropped to 700. The engine is known, warmed up 90 degrees after driving 12 km.

Everything happens when I cross between 3 - 3,500 of turnover ... In addition, in the garage today (when I strapped) smelled of rotten eggs from the exhaust - slightly, but I'm just sensitive to smells  Evidently, the exhaust gas because you felt behind the car, in the engine compartment, zero odor. Smell delicate but feel.

Something I think is all the fault of the dirty throttle, dirty entry, and maybe I have a small hole in the exhaust (somewhere before the second catalyst) ... I have not checked anything yet

    LOG:

I'm throwing in my log, cable from e-service came,

I had a mileage of 109 397 and vcds shows 109 390, is it supposed to be?

Męczy mnie ten NOx, ostatnio doszedł czujnik ciśnienia hamulców - mam zaizolowany kabel koło pokrywy silnika, podobno to to ? Auto jeździ normalnie, pali na trasie 6-7 litrów (zależnie czy klima i czy depcze), miasto ok.6,6 (noc) - 7,8 l/100.

Edit: po przejechaniu ok 25 km (spalanie z kompa 7,5 litrain the city) I checked ELM 327 BT or something "expects" - this is how it writes: P2202 (Pending DTC) NOx sensor Circuit Low Input (Bank 1).

Case No. 2 - I think on free in the garage (after entering, the engine was 80 degrees - it showed in ELM) when gasifying it and ... as I took about 3 thousand turns and released my leg from the gas, there were moments when the engine it went off (the battery indicator was on for a fraction of a second) and it seemed like it was starting to spin ... The revs waved gently. Candles have new, aku new, what can it be? Maybe this is the problem of this NOx? Sometimes it goes out after warming up at idle (how I start on hot or at intersection).

I have access to VCDS, what to check and how?
    What could it be ?

That's how I read this "diary" and I can say that you can not afford such a car, and that it is not at all a good service, and normally the car should be regularly given to the workshop ...

What I wrote is such an allusion ... I meant that you do not know, your diagnosis does not guarantee correct interpretation of errors and problems, instead of spending money on "reading" errors and buying "cables" you would have already repaired ...

I see that you keep a log book, but seriously you probably leak this valve on the pipe to the air filter, it comes with such a hose with a throttle.

I do not know if I think well. You can mark your friend in the picture - if you can see?

What are the symptoms of leakage of this valve?

in the picture you can not see, to this tube from the filter flies such a short thin tube, blind it to the test, the symptoms are uneven rotation, sometimes it goes out or stays at 1.5 thousand.

Yes, I know which, from the valve cover to the air filter housing above the engine ...

How to plug it (cork, rubber)? Both sides or from one (leave the layout closed or open as I blind any side)?

Blind him permanently and drive, or just gas the garage on barren?

    what? - with a screw
how ? - from both sides
What ? - take a picture of what you want to blind

Short rubber hose going from the valve cover to the engine cover (there is an air filter on the bottom and an intake air temperature sensor).

The cover looks like this: (illustrative picture)
VW Golf V 1.6 FSI - Problem with the NOx sensor and the engine / electrics VW Golf V 1.6 FSI - Problem with the NOx sensor and the engine / electrics

here, where I marked the cable from the temperature sensor comes out and it enters as if venting the valve cover.

    Is it it ?
How do you stop it - screw and I have to ride like that? How is it supposed to react to clogging the engine?

Oh, and I miss at least one rubber (fixing) - such a round on the air filter in the second picture (you can not even buy in the Dealership ...) - so that the cover does not go to the end and drew the left air?

EDIT: Here you can see all the cables - you can even see the tube where it goes:

In my case, injectors sometimes sound louder.

I am before cleaning (in case of emergency) - intake and injectors with Liqui Moly - Jet Clean Tronic and replacement of the fuel filter. I think that the injections will be quiet (others have helped). And this Oil Catch from another topic (preventive) https://www.elektroda.pl/rtvforum/topic2630536.html

Maybe you are somehow directing me, you can see you have experience with this ;) engine ;) What to do, what to check in VCDS? Screenshots I would give on the forum, along with your solution to the problem, would serve future generations of users and mechanics :)

I had a hole in the exhaust - already sealed (connecting the pipes after the catalyst No. 2 - where the probe) - improvement - CHECK now lights up not 80-100 km and after about 200 km.

I have not been rinsing yet.

Hello, I have a similar problem with the Golf 1.6fsi, in the morning the car turns over and I don't want to start it when connected to VCDS, the errors I posted in the photo and now where to start to diagnose the fault step by step. Regards.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around issues with a 2003/2004 VW Golf V 1.6 FSI, particularly concerning the NOx sensor and engine performance. The user reports abnormal fuel consumption readings, with figures rising significantly at idle. Responses suggest potential causes, including a leak in the valve connected to the air filter, which could lead to uneven engine rotation and stalling. Users recommend checking for leaks, using VCDS for diagnostics, and considering injector cleaning and fuel filter replacement. One user resolved a similar NOx issue by sealing a hole in the exhaust system. The conversation emphasizes the importance of proper diagnostics and maintenance for resolving engine-related problems.
