I have a WD My Book Essential 1TB external drive
Last week I wanted to hook up to him and it turned out to be impossible. The system does not show the 1TB disk, only what is shown in the attached picture No. 1 intarface
As it turned out later, during my absence, the external drive was knocked off the shelf by my child.
On this disk there are family photos and videos from almost 10 years, so these data are very valuable to me in terms of sentiment.
When I try to initialize it in Disk Management I get CRC data error
In the so-called meanwhile I bought a new 1TB drive so maybe there is some way to transfer this data from one drive to another.
If so, I would greatly appreciate any help or advice on how to go about it. additionally, I am sending a screenshot from crystal disk info
The drive is connected via usb to the computer
    on a windows 7 32 bit computer

If possible, connect the drive directly to the computer - bypassing the USB controller.

Check the disk in the DMDE program (if you can see the lost partition), with the same program you can make a post-sector copy of the disk / partition.

And isn't this drive encrypting data and isn't this entire interface necessary for its proper operation?

    in sum:

so the disk must be connected not directly only through this interface from the housing?

Yes Sir. Then a sector copy of the disk, if this super housing will allow it. And then the fun of scanning and searching for lost data.

    Life is not easy

    2. copy to file?
    3. what img, ima, bin?

After connecting to the computer via USB and switching on dmde.

    I got the following message:
WD My Book Essential 1TB Not Recognized by Windows - Possible Data Transfer?

    I chose like this:
After a while, this window appeared:
WD My Book Essential 1TB Not Recognized by Windows - Possible Data Transfer?

In this case, I selected "ignore" and another window popped up:
WD My Book Essential 1TB Not Recognized by Windows - Possible Data Transfer?

    I confirmed OK.

At the next error, I chose "ignore all" and after the scan I have this status:
WD My Book Essential 1TB Not Recognized by Windows - Possible Data Transfer?

    What should I do now.
I don't see any recoverable partition anywhere.

Because the disk does not want to be read, which unfortunately does not bode well. The problem may be in the casing.

Except that it is connected in the housing. I wrote about it earlier that it is connected via usb

When viewing the main dmde window, the data appears at
    LBA 2048 block 2047
    and end with
    LBA 1717902896 block 1717902895

so now how to make this post-sector copy
can it select only the range from sector 2048 to 1717902896?
is this done and will it help me recover my files?

Except that we are not sure if the housing / controller is operational.
You need to carefully check the connection of the drive in the case itself (if you want to leave it there).

If the disk reads the casing at all, or rather it is not so, you can recover files via USB by entering the partitions. You can also make a post-sector copy of the partition itself to a file and then recover data from this file. However, we are not entirely sure what is happening with the disk or the housing.
If the housing is damaged, you should first check the disk itself, and it is best to do it by making a post-sector copy to the other one, but before analyzing SMART.

I took everything out of the case
    disk, and interface

I unscrewed the interface from the disk, looked at it and after finding that there was no physical damage on it, I screwed everything together.

I reconnected everything to usb, except that without the plastic housing of the drive.

What should I do next ?

The second drive I have is also an external usb drive
or maybe use a newer version of dmde?

Remove the drive from the USB and connect directly to the computer via SATA, take a second drive and also connect the same or larger to the computer. Then make a post-sector copy, preferably under linux.
Then connect the disk on which you have copies to the USB interface and connect it to the computer. And we will check if the interface is working.
The second drive you have on the USB will be erased and must be connected via SATA so you would have to remove it and be sure you won't damage it by overwriting operations. (may have its own software on disk)

Due to the fact that I do not have a second internal drive with such a capacity
I'm wondering if making a sector copy to a file and saving it on the second external usb drive I have is not a solution that will take us a bit further towards data recovery.

and if it could help, what additional options in dmde to use (copy from the end), considering that the very beginning of the disk throws errors

When you copy a disk, you copy encrypted data and create an encrypted file. Its decryption is only possible through the bridge from the housing.
    Do the rest logically.

You need something that will be reliable and efficient, which you will connect via a bridge to a computer with encrypted data.

A few years ago I bought a 1.5TB My Book Essential drive - parameters pasted from CrystalDIskInfo
WD My Book Essential 1TB Not Recognized by Windows - Possible Data Transfer?

I had a similar situation, i recently started and it did not detect the disk. I combined in every possible way. Using DMDE in the latest free version, I made a post-sector copy as described above. Using the paid version, it was possible to recover data from the bin file.(DMDE Prof ver 2.4.6)

Note: The DMDE 2.4.6 version saw only 1 TB of disk, so I made a copy with a free program and the recovery was done with the pro version directly from the bin file.

All the time, however, the disk did not respond and was invisible by the system (I used it on windows 7 and windows xp). I downloaded a program for formatting these disks from the manufacturer's website. It turned out that the program detected the disk and was able to format it correctly. I can't post the link because I don't have enough posts, but on the manufacturer's website you will find:
    wdc-pl.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/search/1/a_id/3868

The disk came to life and is correctly recognized by both windows and the internal software that you can install to this disk
that is WD SMARTWARE (generally a waste of disk space and computer memory :) )

I also recommend installing drivers for these drives from the WD SES Driver website (if we upgrade the software to the drive, it will install this driver right away)

Drivers can be found on the manufacturer's website
    support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?groupid=120&lang=en

    Healthy and Happy Holidays :)

If it's current SMART then the drive has serious surface issues.
