Hello. Today something happened to my WD My Passport Ultra 1TB WDBZFP0010BBK portable disk.

Namely, when I was doing a data transfer, the disk crashed, showing that the device is not ready.
I tested it on windows 7, and on another computer with windows 10 and the same.

Earlier, a few months ago, the system stopped seeing it as a plug-in under USB 3.0, but under USB 2.0 it flashed normally.

After several times rebooting the system, sometimes the disk caught, however, some of the folders he read, and as in others I wanted to enter it again showed the message that "the device is not ready."

After a few attempts, he does not even see him in "My Computer" anymore.

However, in "Disk Management" one can see it once and once it does not.
For example, now I have such a view when I try to initialize it:
WD My Passport Ultra 1TB WDBZFP0010BBK: System Fails to Recognize Disk During Data Transfer
Both as I try to initiate by the MBR or GPT style shows such a message.

Can anyone advise you? I really care about this data. How could I get them back in a sense to move to a hard disk? Is there any chance to repair this disk?

SMART disk are you able to read? It looks like you will not be able to do much with this disc at home. In addition, you have important data and you try to initialize the disk, that is, you do what you can not do after losing data.

I hooked up to the third computer, and there the disk appeared in My Computer.

I checked the disk, where I checked Disk check options, and I marked two options in it: 1- automatically repair file system errors, and 2- Scan disk and try to recover damaged sectors.

It's slow, some files have already been scanned. So what should I do now? Leave this system to continue checking the disk?

Ps What program is best to do SMART for this device?

Try Crystal Disk Info. Disk scan without checking its status is a very bad idea. In this way, the disk and data structure may deteriorate if the disk has a problem.

This is probably the disk has problems.

    No.

Ok, I do not care about it because I will lose this data.

I managed to recognize this disc in one of the computers. Here is the screen from Crystal Disk Info

And what is the situation? There is a chance to somehow fix the disk, or at least copy the data?

    No.

You need to make a copy of the hub on another disk if it depends on the data.

Thanks a lot, thanks again for your help.
Ok, the disc is to be discarded. However, I do not hide that the data I care about the most.

    Added after 33 [minutes]:

And is such a copy of the external disk of the disk for another drive is something that can be done in the cottage, or rather you need to drive the disc to a specialist?

I have two Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5 drives (ST2000DM001) in one of my computers, connected in RAID and see them as one partition.
I am thinking of a copy of the posture for this partition consisting of these two discs. This is my only 1TB available capacity.

I will transfer some data from these Seagates.

I never did it, but I'm afraid it could be a difficult operation.
    What's your opinion?

    What is this matrix?

Maybe you can disconnect the disks so you can make a copy for one of them.

The initial diagnosis of the disk is that it does not read sectors, it is impossible to make a copy of a poseector program. It's probably only the translation of plates or something, I do not remember, in any case, the diagnostician said that it was a very big cost. So I think after the data.

    ?

If the cost is too big, let's try it ourselves.

Ok, we can try ourselves, but maybe tomorrow, because I have to recover the portable disk first, and it's only in the evening.

    What I have:
    1) A 1TB disk from which I want to recover data.
    2) disks needed to make copies:
    a) 2 Seagate 3.5 '' 2TB ST2000DM001 drives, seen as one disk (partitions) with a total capacity of almost 4TB, so I have faster work speed, maybe not as fast as SSD, but much better than plain HDD. What is the matrix, I do not remember because it was done almost 2 years ago, I suspect it is a RAID 0 matrix.

    b) Buy a 2TB portable disk.

I would be more likely to transfer to this portable disk, but it is known that USB is not a stable link, and in turn I would prefer not to separate the matrix, so the question arises.

It needs a 1TB hard drive that can be connected directly to the motherboard.

Ok, I will have an internal 1 TB drive, this one will be hooked under the motherboard. In that case, I'll talk to you tomorrow or the day after tomorrow how all this will be.

I can not imagine that a poseector copy will now be possible (whole, uninterrupted) to perform after USB2.0. :|

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a malfunctioning WD My Passport Ultra 1TB (WDBZFP0010BBK) portable disk that fails to be recognized during data transfer. The user experiences intermittent recognition of the disk on different computers (Windows 7 and Windows 10) and encounters errors such as "the device is not ready." Initial troubleshooting includes checking the disk on multiple systems and running a disk check with options for repairing file system errors and scanning for damaged sectors. Recommendations include using Crystal Disk Info for SMART diagnostics and caution against initializing the disk, which could lead to data loss. The user expresses concern about data recovery and considers options for copying data to other drives, including a RAID setup with Seagate Barracuda drives. Ultimately, the user is advised to consult a specialist for data recovery due to the disk's critical condition.
