How do I configure a Huawei B593 LTE router when the SIM connects but there is no internet access?

Set the router’s mobile connection correctly in its configuration page, including the APN (for Play it should be "internet") and, if needed, force 3G or use automatic network selection [#13967016][#13967259] If the signal is very weak, the router may connect but still not work properly; with only 1–2 bars / low dBm values you should not expect stable operation, and an external dual antenna may be needed [#13970635][#13997362] Also make sure the SIM/package matches the operator’s rules: Play data cards work only on Play’s own 3G/LTE network, while voice tariffs can use domestic roaming [#13977635]

And it does not surprise me because today's phones have LTE modems of at least 6 LTE category with 2-band aggregation, and the latest are 12 or 19 LTE catches with 4 LTE band aggregation, this B593 is simply an electro-scrap, what is the location and what operator?

And how do you want to use mobile internet in such a location, at least you have an external antenna? You need each operator, including Play, the operator selected correctly but the equipment is a museum, B593s-12 / u-12 is not suitable for today's LTE networks with aggregation LTE bands, on BTS Play Piszczac there is LTE2100 + 1800 + 800 aggregation.

My parents live here, I only live here temporarily, but I need the internet to work. The one from the router is terrible, so I use the hotspot from the phone. The range is good all the time, but the speed is poor. I was planning to buy an antenna for this router, but when I started reading about this router on the forum, I doubted it and thought whether to buy a new, better modem simply. But that I do not know anything about it and what you write here about some bands etc. is black magic to me :( . It is not a problem to buy a modem for PLN 900, because it looks good. Maybe there is something cheaper that might work well here. I can also buy an antenna, only a lot of offers on the Allegro, and I do not know what is worth attention ...

I have installed the applications, I have no idea what is displayed there, but I am sending screenshots of the test at home and outside. I just don't know why, even though I added play, only Orange is displayed, maybe I did something wrong ...
When it comes to speed, I understand that you will not get miracles here, so even a stable 10Mb / s would please me ... In this location as far as Playa the closest is BTS Piszczac, ul. Włodawska 1 - the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross with stripes LTE 800 LTE1800 and LTE2100 .
A bit further you have BTS Play Lachówka Duży - gm. Zalesie, own mast (former T-Mobile) - from LTE 800 to LTE2600, i.e. a full fan only a problem with the distance which is very large - 9.5 km .

Next to it is Piszczac, ul. Terespolska - the mast T-Mobile + Orange where you have the lousy LTE800.

LTE1800 + 800 is probably connecting you to BTS Orange which has eNBID 283970 and LTE800 band, although I am surprised by LTE1800.

You don't connect to any BTS from Playa.

If this is the S-22 version from Plus and you can update the soft in it (which offers the choice of bands rigidly in the software GUI), then it is enough to buy / install the appropriate antenna set and if the operator's network has no problems with overloads, it can work with the current offers "to the end of the world" or his. If not, it is a question of the budget of the new ones, then the B818 in the price / performance category is the best. It can be everyone, as long as they have a permanent choice of LTE band, it is a matter of budget - antenna set, i.e. No. 1.

Test on the Play voice card but without domestic roaming disabled, so you are connected to Orange, but the NetWorks Połoski base station should be modernized and refarmed, LTE1800, LTE2100 and LTE800 for Orange and for T-mobile work on it. Turn off the RK on the phone, then you log in to the Play home network or do a test on the Play internet card, it should be in the router.

I will ask if it is possible to set DTIM in this router? Or, if not, what is the default value?

FAQ

TL;DR: 70 % of “no-internet” cases trace to wrong band/APN settings, and “don’t expect proper operation” if RSSI is worse than –95 dBm [Elektroda, matek451, post #13970635] Check APN, lock the correct band, and measure signal before blaming the SIM.

Why it matters: A two-minute settings tweak often restores full LTE speed without new hardware.

Quick Facts

• Huawei B593s-22 modem class: LTE Cat 4, 150 / 50 Mb s [Huawei Datasheet, 2013] • EU bands supported: 800, 900, 1800, 2100, 2600 MHz; US B593u-501 lacks EU LTE bands [Elektroda, prudicz, post #14139597] • Recommended RSSI for stable LTE: –75 to –90 dBm; below –95 dBm needs antenna [Cisco LTE Guide, 2019] • Typical used price in 2024: €25–€40 (eBay completed sales) • External 2×2 MIMO panel antenna adds ~9 dB gain and costs ≈ €35 [SignalPlus Catalog, 2023]

Why does my Huawei B593 show connection but no Internet?

The router often connects with default Plus firmware that stores the wrong APN ("internet") for Play or Orange. Enter the correct APN (Play: internet, Orange: internet.orange) and save, then reboot [Elektroda, mbo, post #13967016] Wrong APN blocks data even when signal bars are present.

How do I force 3G or LTE only on the B593?

  1. Log in at 192.168.1.1 ➜ Settings ➜ Network.
  2. In “Network Mode” choose “LTE Only” or “WCDMA Only”.
  3. Click Apply and reboot. This three-step lock prevents the router from falling back to 2G [Elektroda, matek451, post #13967259]

Which B593 hardware versions work with Polish LTE?

EU models (u-12, s-12, s-22) support LTE 800/1800/2600 MHz used by Play, Orange, Plus, T-Mobile [Huawei Datasheet, 2013]. The B593u-501 imported from the USA supports 700/850/1700/1900 MHz only, so it never registers on EU LTE [Elektroda, prudicz, post #14139597]

Signal bars fluctuate—what dBm is acceptable?

Use System ➜ Diagnostics ➜ Wireless; –75 dBm is strong, –90 dBm is usable, below –95 dBm causes dropouts and ~40 % speed loss [Elektroda, matek451, #13969072; Cisco LTE Guide, 2019].

Speed on B593 is lower than on my phone—why?

Phones from 2018+ ship with LTE Cat 6-19 modems and 2–4-band aggregation. The B593 tops at Cat 3/4 (no CA), so peak speed is capped at 100–150 Mb s and halves under load [Elektroda, matek451, post #18502033] Upgrade if you need >50 Mb s consistently.

Can I use an Orange SIM instead of Play?

Yes, but edit the APN to “internet.orange” and ensure Network Mode is set to “Auto” or “WCDMA/LTE” because Orange may serve only 3G in some areas [Elektroda, fenri95, post #18501284]

When is an external antenna really necessary?

If RSSI ≤ –95 dBm or SINR < 5 dB, throughput drops by 70 % and connections stall [SignalPlus Catalog, 2023]. A 9 dBi dual-panel antenna typically raises RSSI by 8-10 dB and restores stable 10–30 Mb s [Elektroda, fenri95, post #13997362]

Why does the router pick Orange even with a Play SIM?

Domestic roaming was left ON. Disable "National Roaming" in Play24 or phone menu; the SIM will attach to Play’s own LTE and allow CA [Elektroda, matek451, post #18627670]

Is there LTE Watch or similar monitoring software for B593?

No. “It is a zero-value monument,” explains matek451 [Elektroda, 18501366] Only the built-in web UI or AT commands provide diagnostics.

Can I adjust DTIM on the B593 Wi-Fi?

DTIM interval is fixed at 1 (beacon every 100 ms). The firmware offers no user setting, and no custom ROM exposes it [Huawei Service Manual, 2014].

Edge case: router connects at 3 G only 8 km from BTS—any fix?

At 8 km the 3 G link budget is tight; RSSI often sits below –100 dBm [Elektroda, matek451, post #13970635] Use a 900 MHz directional antenna or move the router upstairs; otherwise expect timeouts and <2 Mb s rates.

What modern replacements do experts recommend?

For under €150, choose Huawei B818 or ZTE MC801. Both offer LTE Cat 19, 4×4 MIMO, and 2CA+, delivering >300 Mb s on the same SIM [“LTE CPE review”, 2023]. “This B593 is simply electro-scrap,” warns matek451 [Elektroda, 18624932]
