    Hello
I have a problem with the heating cable and the boiler plug (the pins are so hot that they burn, the cable heats up to 15/20 cm from the plug). I will add that the cable to the socket is 3x2.5. The original plug is flooded, I don`t know what to do now because everything the socket has already been checked, including the new one, now I`m wondering whether to replace the plug or maybe the entire cable from the heater itself? the cable there is not too thick, probably 3/1 mm or 3x1.5 I am asking my colleagues for help. Thank you in advance. Matthew

The reason may be potential equalization between the boiler grounded through the foundation and the PEN cable which has lost continuity.

Buddy, tell me in simple words, I`m a beginner.

You are heating up at the transition resistance P=I²*Rp inside the plug.
    Replace the plug.

Probably poor contact in the socket. Replacing the socket should help.

    buddy, what about normal language?
In this normal language, you need to take a meter and check the continuity of the wires in the installation, not only the one supplying this socket.
    PS. Mate MACIEK_M, of course

In "normal" language it would sound like this:
Contact Kumaty elektrykie m, because it is a very dangerous situation.

Of course, the reason may also be what my colleagues said.

Ok, I`ll check the resistance, if it`s OK, I`ll replace the plug (please advise me which plug to choose)

If it was hot, it was hot, so you should replace both the plug and the socket.
Measuring the short-circuit loop impedance before and after replacement is also desirable (read: required).

Only the contacts don`t show anything that would indicate something is happening in the socket, I can`t see the plug because it`s flooded.

Since you know everything and prefer the path of least resistance, I`m closing the topic.
Especially since all the explanations have already been given.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around a heating cable and boiler plug that are overheating, causing concern for safety. The original plug is flooded, and the user is uncertain whether to replace just the plug or the entire cable. Responses suggest that the overheating may be due to poor contact in the socket or high transition resistance within the plug. Recommendations include checking the continuity of the wires, replacing both the plug and socket, and measuring the short-circuit loop impedance. The user is advised to consult an electrician due to the potential danger of the situation.
