Installation: Securely Attaching LED Strip to GK Plate without Melting or Detaching Issues

How can I securely attach a LED strip to a painted plasterboard (GK) surface quickly, without waiting for it to dry or melting the strip backing?

Use a good hot glue from a glue gun: it grabs immediately, does not require support while curing, and several users reported that it did not damage the LED strip when used on GK/plasterboard [#14377465][#14378161] If you prefer not to use glue, a quality 3M double-sided tape is another common fix for re-attaching the strip [#14377444][#15982051] Make sure the plasterboard/paint is well prepared or primed first, because on painted GK anything you stick may peel off with the paint [#15982569] For heavier strips or places that get warm, mechanical fixing with clips/tacker/small screws was also suggested as a more reliable alternative [#14376615][#18043438][#18043665]

Hello. I have such a problem. I glued the LED strip to the GK plate, of course cleaned and painted, but the monkey is detaching. What can be safely and quickly glued so as not to hold anything to dry and that it does not react and melt the bottom of the tape. Anyone have any ideas ?!

    Hello.
It depends where you want to attach it. Personally, I would not stick with a tacker, just fasten it so that the tape was inside, nothing will happen to her.

    fasten? but what? staples?
I have a GK shelf and there is a rim (something similar to how it is mounted on the ceiling) about 2 cm. And I have a LED strip stuck to it, which comes off because the glue on it has worn out, partly because of my fault. I'm trying to fix it somehow and have no idea how. I was thinking about a droplet or super glue because I hold on for a moment and it sticks but I don't know if it will work out.

Buy double-sided adhesive tape and stick it again.

And I will suggest a good hot glue from a gun.
In my opinion, this will be the best and strongest way to attach the tape.

I have it done at home, a Led tape and a few cables stuck to the GK, and nothing has fallen off yet.

hot glue yes? but won't that melt this tape? I bought the mounting glue in silicone, it is strong and holds well, but unfortunately it is such a sensitive place that I have nothing to support it to dry ... hm.
as for the double-sided tape, maybe it would burn out but a lot of fun: /

Nothing will happen to her from glue to heat. After all, I wrote earlier that I did it myself. She'll be fine. And at the same time you will have it mounted immediately without any support or long holding.

I do not recommend hot glue, as I glued it to my desk, half of the tape stopped working for me. I do not recommend

Apparently the tape was of poor quality or had too much tension.
I also used hot glue and it shines to this day (over two years).

You don't have to hold. Spread the glue, put the sections to the shelf, fix it across with pieces of adhesive tape, when the glue dries well, tear off pieces of adhesive tape. It's best to tear it off the next day. It is good to do this job with 2 people.

Use 3M double-sided tape, there are different widths and colors.

The basis is good surface preparation - the plasterboard (especially painted) should be primed, otherwise whatever you stick to it will peel off with the paint (exception - second cyanoacrylate adhesives - they are rare enough to soak into the paint).

The hot glue comes off if the LEDs are more powerful, it will simply peel off during use

Exactly? Like then? I have strong external LEDs (solid, heavy tape, 12x4mm), I glued it on hot glue, to wooden soffits from the bottom, unfortunately the heat took its toll and some of it peeled off. Any idea how to handle it?

    Well, not very aesthetic. :D
But a few metal strips + small decorative screws would be OK.

I also have two glue tapes from the gun stuck and they are holding it.

Topic summary

✨ The discussion revolves around the challenges of securely attaching LED strips to GK (gypsum board) plates without causing damage or detachment. Users share various methods for reattaching the strips, including the use of double-sided adhesive tape, hot glue, and silicone mounting glue. While some recommend hot glue for its immediate bonding capabilities, others caution against it due to potential melting of the LED tape. The importance of proper surface preparation, such as priming painted surfaces, is emphasized to prevent peeling. Alternative methods like using tacker, nails, or decorative screws are also suggested for a more secure attachment.
