    Hello,

My question concerns the black band appearing (unfortunately more and more often) on printouts from the Brother DCP-1610RW printer.

Gentle cleaning of the toner or drum does not help. I don`t know much about the "anatomy" of this printer to figure out what else can be cleaned. I don`t want to interfere with it too much because it is under warranty (bought in December). Even though she`s young, she`s been doing quite well (for such a printer) in the company - over 12,000 prints so far, so theoretically the drum needs to be replaced.

Scan of a sample page in the attachment:

My question is whether it`s a drum or something more serious. I don`t necessarily feel comfortable taking it to the service center because it will undergo a similar ordeal in the next two weeks - at least 5,000 prints, and I can buy the drum on the cheap, but will it help?

For the time it takes to be serviced, I suggest purchasing a used one
    hp2015dn or hp2055dn printers.

Take Brother to the service center if it is under warranty,
subject to information about paid repairs.
You probably need to replace the drum or roller
    with Teflon foil.
Before taking it to the service center, perform tests:
    - printing a demo page,
    - replacing the toner with a new one,

    Post scans from your printout.

There is a green lever on the drum that can be moved from left to right and back. I suggest moving it as far as possible to the right and then returning it to the starting position.
If it doesn`t help, we`ll keep looking.

It is advisable to clean the corona electrode with the slider each time you replace the toner cartridge. When it comes to replacing the drum - in Brother machines it is so easy that a visit to the service center is asking for unnecessary costs. Regarding Teflon foil - this company`s printers use an aluminum roller coated with Teflon, I haven`t seen the foil before.
