Hello. I kindly ask for advice on which power cord, what cross-section, is needed to connect the sauna heater with a power of 9kW. I would like to explain that the cable between the switchboard and a small sauna box, the outer one I am going to buy 5 x 10. However, between the box and the stove, about 5 meters, I would like to install a temperature-resistant silicone wire with a cross-section of either 5x4 or 5x6mm. Would 5x4mm be enough?
Thank you in advance for your answer.
    Regards

9kW is a current below 16A, so even 5x2.5mm2 with 3x16A protection is enough

I understand your willingness to help, but the protection current is not the only criterion for selecting cables, although it is possible that it will be enough.

Thanks a lot for your quick reply. In that case, the cable between the house and the sauna can also be of a smaller cross-section, e.g. 5 x 6?

You can easily power 5x6 or even 5x4, it also depends on the distance from the switchgear to the sauna supply box.
It is also worth using a separate residual current device

Please decide why so? Calculation proof would be sufficient. However, shooting as long as it is going to be fine, by eye, is not the best idea here.

The distance is quite large, about 35 - 40 meters. This is how the residual current device will be used.
In that case, it was decided - between the house and the sauna 5 x 6, between the sauna box and the stove 5 x 4 + 3x16 fuse and residual current device.

Thank you again - quickly, nice and professional ;-)

And the installation is in what system it works.

    fuse 3x16

And what is written in the documentation of the sauna.

Unfortunately, I am still waiting for the stove - so I do not have its documentation yet. As for the installation itself - I cannot answer the question that was asked of me. When I get home, I will send a photo of the switchboard - although in my opinion it is an advanced (fairly new) installation with all protection (including residual current circuit breakers).

@arturjakis is a UB designer, as I can see. Friend @ resistor7 rolls over in bed. Since when is the distance and power of the receiver the only criteria for selecting a wire / cable and protection? Nobody stammered about a short-circuit loop impedance difficult to measure for amateurs and its nature ...

    Dear friend,

You accepted the information that was not supported by any calculations, technical justification and only pure guesswork. It is possible that this is enough, but to be sure, you have to count it. To count it, you also need to have the result of at least current installation tests.
Please invite an electrician to the place and have him give his verdict.

    I close.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around selecting the appropriate power cord for a 9kW sauna heater, specifically focusing on the cross-section of the wire needed for a 5-meter distance. Initial responses suggest that a 5x2.5mm² cable is sufficient for the current load, while others recommend using 5x4mm or 5x6mm cables depending on the distance from the switchboard to the sauna. The user confirms a longer distance of 35-40 meters and decides on a 5x6mm cable between the house and sauna, and a 5x4mm cable between the sauna box and stove, along with a 3x16A fuse and a residual current device for safety. The importance of proper calculations and installation standards is emphasized, with a suggestion to consult a qualified electrician for verification.
