    Hello,

Request for help. I only have cross connectors. My wife bought a staircase instead and I can't give them back.

Is it possible to connect the cross ones so that they fulfill the staircase functions?

Of course, you can adapt the cross connectors to the stair connectors.

Why can't you return a full-fledged product? And you can't name it either? Well, if not, you can use them as a staircase.

I'm sure not everyone. Maybe we should ask about the model / type and manufacturer?

The cross switch does not need to be transformed into a staircase switch, so connect the two wires that go between the switches, connect on one side to the cross switch and the third one on the other, no matter to which terminal it will work properly anyway, do this in both switches, as shown in the picture.

And which can not be combined to act as a staircase? I am asking out of curiosity, because all the cross ones that I saw could be connected, as drawn by marekhab - by using a bridge between the two terminals. So I thought the staircase switch was a degenerate form of a cross switch. But I may be wrong.

    What bridge and what for?

PS. There used to be rotary switches like this. I'm not sure if they would work, hence my question

You do not give any bridge between the terminals only on the side of the switch where one wire goes, connect it to one of the terminals (no matter which one), one hangs in the air (not connected), if you give a bridge, the bulbs cannot be turned off, just as if you did not always switch the switches they will lead.

In my opinion, each cross switch can be used as a stair switch, regardless of whether it is a key, rotary or rack type switch. If I am wrong, I will be happy to find out what cannot be used in this role.

If I find the rotating one in my country, I will check it.

    There were for sure:

And they looked like this single one. They differed only in the construction of the cams in the cylinder and the fixed clamps:

In Germany, I saw a very sophisticated swivel coupler BushJager or Gira. One of these companies prepared it in such a way that it just couldn't be.

I cannot imagine such a construction that could not work like this. Pol102 why it was not possible? The very principle of operation shows that everyone is suitable, unless, I don't know, they have a processor that controls the voltages and currents or something like that.

Something went wrong with my breastbone :-) when I looked at the cross diagram, in fact even a bridge is not needed. It is difficult to imagine a cross switch that could not be used as a staircase switch.
I am beginning to wonder if the post by benyo2 is not some kind of provocation. You might as well ask the question "I bought a staircase and I don't know how to connect as normal".
If the questioner has such problems, he should not touch the installation.

For several dozen years, my houses had two rotating ones on the cage.

Because they stuffed electronics into this connector. For the control of switching on the switch. It was my strangest job in my career, so maybe I can find documentation somewhere.

Hey, I connected as in the diagram (Ospel AS connectors). I thought it was more complicated, but it's actually a simple matter. A power cord at the bottom and two cables at the top (one on the left and one on the right).

    And everything is alive :)

    Thanks for the help
