    Hello
I have a problem with the PIC K150 programmer supported by the microbrn program,
I am using win10 on the earlier win7 was working fine.
To make it funnier, I have the same program on another winXP computer. It was working normally before and not now.
There is a 1.jpg image when you turn on the programmer.
I am setting up on the PIC16F628A processor, the image is 3.jpg
I put the processor in the 2.jpg programmer.
    Then the 4.jpg screen appears
After pressing "OK" the screen 5.jpg
I have no idea what to do (attempts with other processors also fail).

Check under which com port number the device is installed (device manager). In the software settings, check if it coincides (this is the emulation of the usb to com port - sometimes when connecting to other usb, the com numbering changes)

There is port 1 in the device manager and also in the programmer.
I tried the default port after inserting the programmer (there was port 4) but it worked the same way.

Can you show the device manager and this device specifically?

The symptoms are as if the programmer cannot see the CPU. This would mean that the ZIF was not properly inserted into the socket, but it is not the case. The programmer itself is damaged. But I don't see the reason.

Connect to another computer with different system (win xp and win7).

As I wrote in the first post, it worked on win7 and winXP. I also checked Terez on a computer with XP - it does not work, it is exactly the same as in the attached photos.

I changed the cable, it's the same. I also changed COM to the default 4 also nothing.

I checked my friend's computer (win7) works. I checked with my USB cable.

On the profilic.com website I found an instruction which shows that the PL-2303XA / HXA chip does not work under win 8/10. But to make it harder, there is the same chip in the satellite cable and the satellite software works with it.

Uninstall this COM port and try to install the driver from the attachment. Also try to set the COM port to a higher one, eg COM3. In addition, I also had errors when it comes to communication with this programmer, but surprisingly, when I put the chip (12F508), it read and programmed it correctly. Maybe it is similar with you ...? :-)

Ultimately, if you are going to stay with Win 10, I recommend you install VirtualBox and then Win XP in it and try playing in a virtual system. VirtualBox supports the USB port.

    I attach an additional note.
You should not let Windows update drivers. After updating the driver does not work with error code "10".
Regards and I close this thread.

Provide more details, as a text like "it doesn't work" is a bit too little to help you :-) .

I have Win 10 Pro x64 and everything laughs without the slightest complaint.

In the sense it doesn't detect the platform on one of the apps and it just happens to be a chip one number less, great. I would like some kind of control app, if you would provide a link, that would be great. Because I've searched and downloaded from 7 apps that don't even run, and I have a 7k computer, so well, it's barely six months old.

Let's start with the device manager.... when you plug in the programmer, how is it seen in the device manager? Will you upload a screenshot? You need to expand the COM ports and there we can see how it is seen.

This is not a computer issue - this programmer will go (literally) on any computer :-) .

You can't see the port in the application, but in general the chip isn't even in the software. The port I don't know which one to choose, but the computer in the manager sees the pad.

    And a screen shot?

Topic summary

The PIC K150 programmer, used with the Microbrn program and designed for the PIC16F628A processor, is experiencing connectivity issues on Windows 10 and Windows XP systems. Users have reported that the programmer worked correctly on Windows 7 but fails to recognize the CPU on newer systems. Troubleshooting steps included checking COM port settings, changing USB cables, and testing on different computers. It was noted that the PL-2303XA/HXA chip may not function properly under Windows 8/10. A successful workaround involved reverting to Windows XP or using VirtualBox to run a virtual XP environment. Users were advised against allowing Windows to automatically update drivers, as this could lead to error code "10" and further communication issues.
