I am starting the construction of a house, I am looking for a generator that will help with construction and after completion will be my emergency power source at home. I spent some time searching but every forum is a different opinion. Does anyone have a good generator they can recommend?

And what is supposed to work on this unit?

I interviewed the construction team, they have a 230V concrete mixer, about 2.2kW, 230V power tools up to 2000W, and of course a kettle. At home I will have 3-phase installations, there I will power only the most necessary things.. lighting, fridge, central heating pump and, if possible, electronics.. types of TV, Laptop

I had a similar problem when I was building.
    I decided on a 3-phase generator with a power of 6kW.
It was not the best idea, the generator (generator) was overloaded by the construction workers after a week.
After consulting a specialist, I decided to change the generators to 1-phase.
There were no further failures, the generator worked through the entire construction site.
Now it is connected at home (it doesn't matter the type of installation, part 1 or 3-phase) and waits for a power failure.
To sum up my reasoning, buy a 1-phase generator, minimum power 6kW, the more the better, of course.
Diesel or petrol, it depends on what you trust. I chose Diesel, low fuel consumption, high reliability.

I built a house on a Honda 2.2kW unit, it's been 11 years and it still works today. By accident, I became the owner of a Chinese three-phase aggregate. There is nothing to compare a branded product to Chinese. All in all, it's one comparison that the brand smokes much less. The only limitation of the low power of the aggregate is that either a concrete mixer in use or power tools. Fortunately, there were not many such moments. After making the ceiling above the partner, I had power from the network. Currently, to maintain the voltage in the house, this equipment is just right.

it seems to me that the power of 2.2 kW for the construction site requires great caution, paying attention to the power of the tools so as not to overload the generator and we know that on the construction site "the foreman is always right" and how it can end (example of colleague MUSTAFI), what to power the house, this power is much too small, at least for me, an ordinary kettle, e.g. 1.5l, has about 2 kW.
I have a Chinese for 230 volts, the scale on the ammeter ends at 25 amps and it withstands that much, i.e. 6 kilowatts of power, usually the central circulation grufos, lighting, hydrophore, TV, phone or laptop charger and, if necessary, it will pull the welder.
the diesel engine is a bit tapping but on average 1-1.2 liters of oil per hour is enough, I'm even satisfied, I heard that petrol engines are quieter but they burn 2 x more, over time the light bulbs are waving and there may be a problem with the electronics

Thanks for the answer. So: I'm looking for a single-phase generator, power 6-8 kW, probably diesel. Are you proud of what you've worked on? There is a lot of choice, what should you pay attention to?

Before buying, I rented a Honda 5500 CXS generator with a power of 5.5 kW.
It worked without any problems, fuel consumption was about 3 l/h, I knew that after construction I would need a generator for my home, so I had to buy something quickly.
The rented unit costs about PLN 10,000 gross; / I couldn't afford it.
I dug around, asked questions and chose a Genezo power generator, model: Genezo AN-8674E3, price approx. PLN 3,000 gross, power 6kW, diesel engine, fuel consumption approx. 1.0L/H.
They have good specialists. As I wrote earlier, I insisted on a 3-phase unit, despite the fact that they advised me against it for construction, and after a week I replaced it with a single-phase one.
They have some newer models now. Aha.. and the generator must be equipped with an AVR - voltage regulator, thanks to which all electronics will go without any problems.

I have dg 6500 se 1 genesis, almost 2000 hours of work, almost half of which I bought because I bought it used. I buy filters from them and they offered me the 8500 1-phase model, power 7.5 kilowatts and they give a 2-year warranty, I called allegro to compare offers, there is a lot of it, there is no need to delude yourself - everything comes from China, only not all sellers agree they admit, the same happens with power, some say it has 9.8 kW and the ammeter up to 32 a, i.e. 7.3 kW
If I were to buy for myself or recommend a new one, my old one works from them

I bought a Genus DG 6700RC-3 with a diesel engine for my construction site, it was equipped with a 320L concrete mixer with a 2kW engine, a 2200kw flex and a water pump. And everything went smoothly without any problems. The unit didn't even groan. Theoretically, it has a power of 6.2kW and under 80% load 6.8kW, I don't know if it's true, but it's really efficient and doesn't burn much. I bought it last year in June, worked all summer at the construction site and all winter like a fork and drilled at home for electricity and water. Like a bomb for me. In addition, it has an output for powering the house (the module for automatic activation in the event of a power failure costs about PLN 400), but my brother-in-law installed a manual power source switch in the box. Unfortunately, it is too weak for a plastering unit and it blows the fuse right away. My model has a 10A fuse and a 418cc engine but the 2016 models already have 16A fuses and a capacity of something around 458cc. At the moment, I have only replaced the starter because the sleeves have fallen apart (the service guy sent me a new one and I sent the old one back by post). In my opinion, if you do not have a company and the generator does not work non-stop after 10-12 hours, it is worth spending PLN 2999 (in my case) to build and finish the house if you do not have electricity on the plot yet. Yes, I know it's Chinese to some extent (like the voltage regulator, it even writes in Chinese), but parts such as a generator that is actually all copper and not aluminum painted in copper color will give you the opportunity to connect equipment during construction with a relatively low operating costs.
For me, a big plus is the remote control, when I drill on the first floor, at least I don't have to run up the stairs like crazy to start and turn it off every now and then.

And below is the nameplate from the generator

Thank you for your answer, I have read the information about the Genezo units and the DG 6700RC-3 model, it seems to me that they are very similar units, both are equipped with remote controls and outputs for automation. Where do the differences resulting from the power of these aggregates come from - they have the same engines. I am opting for a single phase generator. I need to make a purchase this week.

It seems to me that the types of material used in the generator and the type of motor. Mine is just three-phase because that's what I wanted. I had a three-phase concrete mixer and single-phase was useless to me. The choice is yours of course.

I dealt with these engines, those with a capacity of 418 cubic meters work in compactors, salt spreaders, tractors and pumps, it is one and the same engine only in the aggregate, it is twisted at 3000 revolutions, has a centrifugal regulator and a conical shaft.
The real power of such an engine at 3600 rpm, i.e. maximum speed, is 7 kW or about 9.5 HP, in the unit at 3000 rpm it is 6.5 kW or 8.8 HP.
It is not possible for a motor with a power of 6.5 kW on the shaft in the aggregate on the sockets to give a power of 6.8 kW
Counting all losses, winding heating, etc., we will get a maximum of 5.5 - 6 kW
Colleague BASS colors I don't know why, a 3-phase unit on a 418 cm motor will safely give up to 2 kw per phase, be careful with flexes and devices with motors, we have starting current, flex 2.2 kw will get us the stator winding at the first start

I decided on the Genezo AN-8500E1 unit, single-phase with a power of 7500W. It has some new engine. I called them and they advised me this, we'll see how it will be in reality. I'm supposed to get it tomorrow. I will share my comments as I test it in combat conditions..

Make a video with your phone because I'm curious how it will go. The neighbor has a Fogo with a Honda engine (gasoline) with a capacity of 5.5kW, but it consumes twice as much fuel as mine under the same load.

I am curious about the opinion about the Genezo AN-8500E1 unit. I currently have a 4 kW generator, but in some time its power will not be sufficient, and I do not want the generator to be unloaded with maximum load for several hours.
