Good afternoon, I have recently noticed that I have a bulge on one tyre at the front of my car (Mazda 323F BA) as shown in the photo. Should I replace this tyre immediately or is there nothing to panic about?

    Replace immediately.

As you can see, the tyre is not of the first youth. The wires have cracked and the air pressure in the tyre has made a bulge. The tyre is weak at this point and for your own safety and the safety of others it is best to replace it immediately. Driving with a tyre like this causes vibrations which are transferred to the suspension and driving comfort.

This tyre, even without the bulge, could only be disposed of, replaced immediately!
What kind of diagnostician allowed this car to be driven!

As I wrote I only saw it about 2 days ago. Before that I doubt that it would have been there already, because I would have noticed when washing the rims for example. Does the tyre really look that bad?

If the rest of the tyres are of the same vintage then you have all four to replace. How did this car pass the inspection? Also check the spare wheel.

Damian, take very seriously the need for immediate replacement of this tyre. Do not operate the vehicle until it has been replaced. The bulge disqualifies this tyre immediately(!), but there is another problem. There is virtually no tread on this tyre. If the others are in the same condition, you need to replace them too.

I am attaching a photo of the rear ones, I think they are in better condition than the front ones. Is it enough for me to replace the 2 at the front or are the ones at the rear also to be replaced?

They are in better condition. The best thing you can do is drive up to a vulcanising shop, let them have a look, give their opinion. They will check the exact depth of the tread, for example.

I will replace the front ones for sure, post above I added a picture of the rear one. I think they are in better shape. Please feel free to evaluate.

    .

Tyres from the front axle absolutely to be replaced immediately. The tyre in the photo from the rear axle still has tread that is within the prescribed height. However, it shows significant signs of rubber ageing. These tyres certainly bear the year/week of manufacture markings. So think about replacing them in the near future too. If the car is already "old" and you do not intend to use it for a long time, go to the vulcanisers and ask for used ones in good condition. It's always cheaper and they will replace them straight away.

I urge you to buy new tyres. You can now buy good tyres at very decent prices.

Topic summary

A user reported a bulge on the front tyre of their Mazda 323F BA and inquired about the urgency of replacement. Responses overwhelmingly advised immediate replacement due to safety concerns, as the bulge indicates structural weakness and potential failure. Several contributors noted that the tyre's age and condition, including tread depth and signs of rubber aging, necessitate replacing all tyres if they are similarly worn. Recommendations included consulting a vulcanising shop for a thorough inspection and considering the purchase of new or quality used tyres, especially if the vehicle is older.
