    Hello!
The usb mouse does not work on a laptop with windows 8. Maybe I'll go straight to the point:
    - the mouse works on other computers, but not on the laptop, an unknown device pops up in the device manager and code 28 - ("The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code28)"). Other usb stuff works.
    - I used windows tools such as troubleshooting (found a problem with the mouse but did not solve it), online problem solving search, online driver search, manual installation of a standard serial mouse.
-I connected other mice, they also did not work.
-I uninstalled everything from the universal USB serial bus> computer reset and reinstallation (in the windows device manager)
-I uninstalled everything from the HID interface> computer reset and reinstallation (in windows device manager)
    - I downloaded the drivers from the mouse manufacturer's website, but the installation failed because the drivers were already installed and uninstalling them in the device manager did not help
    - the mouse worked when I ran ubuntu with pendrive on my laptop (so 100% problem with windows 8
    - I searched and installed all windows update
    - I used 2 applications to detect and download / update drivers (some freeware recommended on forums for similar problems)
-I downloaded from the manufacturer's website and reinstalled the chipset drivers

The last idea that comes to mind is backup> run recovery> restore backup. However, this is the ultimate option, and I wouldn't want to risk losing my data.

    Anyone have any ideas?

I would like to add that I found the above ideas on various forums also here. Thank you in advance for any help.

Use USB Oblivion to clean the registry, or DriveCleanup.

Ha ha. As if the author gave the laptop model then we wouldn't have to fortune teller from XHCI.
Not to mention the version of the USB ports under which the mouse is connected ...
And yes, the author did not mention which one Colour USB plugs in, so I assumed (as a fortune-teller) that it doesn't have XHCI.

Sorry, I did not think that the laptop model plays a role, especially since everything works on Ubuntu ...
Well, this is the Lenovo G585.

I have tried all the methods mentioned.
USB oblivion, DriveCleanup, both in administrator mode, I also installed this amd catalyst.
Yes, I connected mice to each of the 3 USB ports. The same thing every time.
I cannot disable Intel XHCI Mode in the BIOS, there is no such option.
Do you have any more ideas? :(

    I also add screenshots.

This is not surprising as you have an AMD chipset :D

    Install it: http://support.lenovo.com/en/pl/downloads/ds030850

    If it still doesn't work:

Check if you have a UMDF driver error logged after restart in the event log. If so, try this one: http://batcmd.com/windows/8/services/mshidumdf/

Still nothing. I did not find any bug with UMDF, maybe I was looking wrong, not very familiar. I ran this .bat file anyway, but it didn't help. However, I found 2 alerts in Administrative Events regarding Kernel-PnP, ID 219, task category (212).
"The driver \ Driver \ WUDFRd failed to load for the device ROOT \ LENOVOHID \ 0000"
"The driver \ Driver \ WUDFRd failed to load for the device ROOT \ LENOVOHID \ 0001"

Okay! I did a backup and restarted. I'm fed up with googling it ... I don't wish anyone would do anything like this. But if someone is willing, he can still exchange his ideas on how to fix this problem. Maybe someone who gets here by googling will help with this. :)
