    Hello,

I know that the topic with the pop-up message about the lack of a CD / DVD driver when installing Windows 7 has already appeared, but the proposed solutions were unfortunately not suitable for my situation.

I have a newly assembled computer (Asus disc, USB only 3.0 and 3.1 available, internal DVD drive), I am trying to install Windows 7 32-bit on it from the original disc (would the 64-bit version have the same problems?), But I get a known message about the lack of CD / DVD drivers (I do not have a CD with drivers for this drive), which apparently has nothing to do with CD / DVD.

I haven't changed anything in the BIOS yet (disk and USB settings), so far I have only tried unsuccessfully to download drivers from the CD attached to the motherboard.
By the way - my BIOS is not very complicated, it mostly allows you to change the settings from "enabled" to "disabled".

Could someone suggest a solution that will most easily lead me to my goal, i.e. installing Windows 7? Can the problem be solved classically, i.e. by using the CD with the installation (without transferring it to a USB device) and by uploading the appropriate driver?

Thank you in advance for your help!

At what point does this message appear? is the installer starting from this CD? maybe this message relates to a hard drive that the installer does not "see"?

I think so too, but in the case of the "seven" (even without SP1) it shouldn't be a problem. It is possible that UEFI is enabled by default in the BIOS, for Win 7 installations it should be legacy.

The message appears shortly after pressing "Start installation". Then there is a window for choosing where to store the drivers, which is CD and Boot [X].

As I already learned from other posts, the installer does not see USB 3.0, so attempts to download drivers from the pendrive failed.

I don't remember my BIOS settings right now, and to tell you the truth I'm not sure if I have the option to switch modes and Legacy selections. As I wrote - my new BIOS is mostly a simple dashboard, and most advanced options only allow you to switch from "disabled" to "enabled". I'll check back later.

Thanks for the topic, only it concerns installation from pendrive (I have not come so far to transfer (?) The installation disc to pendrive).

    You're rightly guessing :-)
I started installing Windows, because I did not think that the hardware would be nasty ...

Thanks for the hint, I'll bite into the documents and let you know if the installation was successful.

    Especially:
    Windows_7_Setup_Guide_DVD
    Win7 Installation guide (English)
    from https://www.asus.com/pl/Motherboards/H110M-PLUS-D3/HelpDesk_Manual/

I used the first installation method from the first document, which told me to rip the installation CD to a USB flash drive (done), insert it into the USB port (done), insert the CD attached to the motherboard into the CD drive (done) and select "boot device" after booting the computer from which the installation is to be made (flash drive - made).

The result of these activities was to be "The USB driver will be loaded automatically during installation setup" and the installation of Windows 7 was to begin.
Meanwhile, the computer keeps telling me that "no operating system detected. Please disconnect all disks that do not contain an operating system" and offers a reset, after which I can start all the fun all over again ...

    What is going on??

Do I have to set anything in the BIOS? The legacy mode is set.
Or is it the lack of the USB 3.0 driver from the link provided by matuzalema? Although when pressing F8, the computer recognizes the connected USB flash drive.

    Overall HELP!

The problem is solved after many battles, I found the solution indirectly here: Link

The solution in my case was to create a bootable pendrive with the installation files (I'm not sure if the installation directly from the CD would eventually fail) and upload (from the CD attached to the motherboard) the driver - not the CD / DVD drive as the Windows message said , only USB 3.0 Controller (extensible host controller).

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the challenges faced while installing Windows 7 on a newly assembled Asus PC that only supports USB 3.0/3.1 and lacks a recognized CD/DVD driver. The user encounters an error message indicating the absence of CD/DVD drivers shortly after initiating the installation process. Suggestions include checking BIOS settings, particularly ensuring that UEFI is disabled and Legacy mode is enabled for compatibility with Windows 7. The user also attempts to create a bootable USB drive from the installation CD but faces issues with the system not detecting the operating system. The conversation highlights the importance of following the manufacturer's installation guides and using the correct boot device settings.
