I bought an ASUS STRIX laptop with a factory installed Windows 10 (i.e. I do not have an installation CD W10).
I would like to uninstall W10 and upload the original W7, but nowhere can I find how to do it. The only guides I found were "Restore factory settings", "Return to previous version of Windows", etc.
I found something else: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSOBt0TUXL8, but I do not know if it is safe and worth the candle and if it works like I put a plate with Windows 7 (for now I get a window with a description : "Windows can not update the installation files." "To install Windows, close the installer and run the installation again. Error code: 0x6" - I understand that W10 does not allow me to install the older version.

In general, I mean formatting a Windows 10 drive so that I can easily install W7

I am asking for help and thank you in advance.

In bios you choose to boot from the drive, put in the system disc and install 7.
The size of the partition and format will be done during installation ...

Only that I do not have a normal bias, unless I'm wrong and I go through F2 not in what I need ... in any case, I did not find there the option to run the disc from the drive. Transitioning from Factory Installed Windows 10 to Original Windows 7 on ASUS STRIX Laptop

If it were so simple, I would not write about my problem here ;)

This is probably for more advanced and in addition English. There is a translator to Uncle Googel, but from this I see, it is some black magic, as for me :(

I did as you wrote, I just had to insert the installation CD first to let me detect the drive. The installation started and then the blue screen; (

    I7-7700HQ processor

I found something like on the screen in the system. Is this synonymous with the format of the entire computer (laptop)?

Scroll (usually with the PgUp / PgDn or +/- keys) Boot Option Priorities so that the disc is in the first place.

    1) Asus Strix ROG GL553VE from I7
    2) Note regarding Google is unnecessary as well as the first link
    3) I will try the third link

I did not solve it. The proposal excluding USB in USB did not help. With the automatic installation of the W10, I turned off the laptop and fell to the rest, so I close the topic. I found on some other forum that I should take out the disk and format it on a PC. So I will do it and when the W10 installation goes, I will leave it this way.

Topic summary

FAQ

TL;DR: Windows 7 support ended after 10 years; "Windows 7 support ended on January 14, 2020." Downgrading an ASUS ROG GL553VE (i7‑7700HQ) is risky and leaves no updates; prefer Windows 10 or prepare complex workarounds. [Microsoft, 2020]

Why it matters: It saves you from failed installs, lost updates, and possible data loss when downgrading a Kaby Lake laptop.

Quick Facts

  • Kaby Lake (7th‑gen Intel) on Windows 7 shows “Unsupported hardware” and blocks Windows Update. [Microsoft, 2017]
  • Windows 7 doesn’t support Secure Boot; disable it in firmware before install attempts. [Secure boot overview]
  • BSOD 0x000000A5 = ACPI_BIOS_ERROR; update BIOS or adjust ACPI/UEFI settings. [Bug Check 0xA5: ACPI_BIOS_ERROR]
  • Windows 7 install media lacks USB 3.0 drivers; inject them with Intel’s utility. [Intel Windows 7 USB 3.0 Creator Utility]
  • Only 64‑bit Windows 7 can UEFI‑boot from GPT; 32‑bit cannot. [Windows and GPT FAQ]

Can I install Windows 7 on an ASUS ROG Strix GL553VE (i7‑7700HQ)?

You can try, but it’s not recommended. Microsoft blocks Windows Update on Windows 7 when a 7th‑gen Intel CPU is detected. You’ll see an “Unsupported hardware” message and no security updates. That leaves your system exposed. Keep Windows 10 or use a supported OS instead. [Microsoft, 2017]

What causes the 0x000000A5 ACPI_BIOS_ERROR during Windows 7 setup?

"This bug check indicates that the system BIOS is not fully ACPI compliant." Update your BIOS first. Use firmware settings compatible with your installer. If ACPI in the BIOS conflicts with Windows 7 requirements, setup will stop with 0xA5. Contact the OEM for BIOS updates if the error persists. [Bug Check 0xA5: ACPI_BIOS_ERROR]

How do I boot from the DVD or USB on the GL553VE?

Use the Boot Menu. 1) Power on and press ESC repeatedly. 2) Select your DVD/USB device. 3) Or press F2 for BIOS, set Boot Option Priorities, then Save & Exit. Here’s a quick How‑To: 1. Press ESC for Boot Menu. 2. Pick your media. 3. Install Windows. [ROG GL553 Series User Manual]

Do I need to disable Secure Boot for Windows 7? How?

Yes. Windows 7 doesn’t support Secure Boot, so it will not boot while Secure Boot is enabled. Enter firmware setup and turn off Secure Boot. Save changes, then boot your Windows 7 media. If available, you may also enable CSM for legacy boot workflows. [Secure boot overview]

My USB keyboard/mouse or installer don’t work in Windows 7 setup. How do I fix USB 3.0 issues?

Windows 7 media lacks USB 3.0 drivers. Create new install media with injected USB 3.0 drivers. Intel’s Windows 7 USB 3.0 Creator Utility automates driver integration into your ISO and USB stick. Reboot and run setup again using the updated installer. [Intel Windows 7 USB 3.0 Creator Utility]

Windows 7 installer can’t see my NVMe SSD. What should I do?

Add Microsoft’s NVMe hotfix KB2990941 to your Windows 7 media. This adds native NVM Express support. Without it, the installer may not detect NVMe drives. Rebuild the installer with the hotfix, then retry installation. Load storage drivers if your vendor provides them. [Update to add native driver support in NVM Express in Windows 7]

Which boot mode should I use: UEFI/GPT or Legacy/MBR for Windows 7?

Windows 7 64‑bit can UEFI‑boot from GPT disks. Windows 7 32‑bit cannot boot from GPT and needs Legacy/MBR. If you use 64‑bit Windows 7, you can keep UEFI/GPT. If you use 32‑bit, convert the disk to MBR and enable legacy boot. [Windows and GPT FAQ]

How can I safely format the Windows 10 drive before installing Windows 7?

Back up first. Boot GParted Live from USB or DVD. Delete existing Windows partitions and create a new NTFS partition or leave unallocated space for the installer. Apply changes and reboot to your Windows 7 media to install. [GParted Live]

Will Windows Update work on Windows 7 with a 7th‑gen Intel CPU?

No. Microsoft’s policy blocks updates for Windows 7 when it detects seventh‑generation Intel processors. You’ll see “Unsupported hardware” and scans fail. That means no security fixes or patches on this hardware under Windows 7. [Microsoft, 2017]

What if my BIOS won’t let me disable Secure Boot or lacks CSM?

Windows 7 cannot boot with Secure Boot enabled. If the firmware does not allow disabling Secure Boot, Windows 7 will not start on that system. Stick with Windows 10 or another supported OS instead. [Secure boot overview]

How do I revert to Windows 10 if the Windows 7 attempt fails?

Create Windows 10 installation media using Microsoft’s tool. Perform a clean install. Your device should reactivate automatically with its digital license once online. Then install ASUS drivers from the support page. [Reinstall Windows 10]

How do I change Boot Option Priorities in ASUS UEFI?

Press F2 to enter the BIOS. Open the Boot tab. Set your optical drive or USB device as the first Boot Option. Save and exit. On the next boot, the system will start from the selected device. [ROG GL553 Series User Manual]
