Lupo 1.0 (ALL engine - Polo, Ibiza, Fox, Arosa)
    Suddenly he stopped firing.
Good battery (12.4V), complete lack of errors (VCDS), after turning the key into ignition you can hear for a moment how the pump works and ...
it wont start. He turns like crazy and no response. Nor trying to get it.
It happened suddenly. Before, he always smoked to touch.
First, I tried to fire with a second key (maybe it's an immobilizer?) To no avail. I checked the candles. There was a spark (although I also replaced the candles prophylactically) that is, the coil, finger, dome probably working.
After removing the candles, when the ignition was switched on, fuel was sprayed from the socket after the candles, i.e. the fuel supply system probably functional.
I tried to start with the start starter, to no avail.
I also tried to check (unfortunately only with my finger; D - sticking to the socket after unscrewing the candle) whether there is compression when starting the ignition. Due to poor access, frost ... etc, I found that the air pulsed, although the person who helped me claims that it is too weak and hence the problem. Just too little compression and the frost that shrunk the rings is the reason for not firing.
    Is it possible ?
Someone told me that this could be a timing belt problem. Possible ?
Or is it the cause of a damaged crankshaft position sensor? Or maybe another sensor? (VCDS does not detect errors

If the engine spins 'lighter' than usual, it could be due to the timing belt. as for the cold it definitely falls off, we should all have problems with starting cars now. The pass-through does not like substances such as a poster or starter, so I suggest you to pee for this device. I would try to unfasten the flow and see what it does. I already had a case that the car was already on fire you released the key and went out. The flow meter was to blame.

If the shaft sensor fell, there would be no spark. The timing to check is for starters. Compression as a second, but not a finger only a pressure gauge :)

When the frost eased, Lupo ignited.
But this probably doesn't solve the problem. Since it has become so bad once, I am afraid that the problem will happen again. And at the least expected moment.
Since it fired up and the engine runs steadily, I exclude the changed timing.
I also checked the compression. Its value on each cylinder is m / w 14 bar. So the condition of the engine itself is also OK?
And here ideas ended, which was the reason for not smoking.
Could it have been frost? (although he smoked without a problem earlier in the cold).
    If so, what could freeze?

Thick oil, too high oil pressure, check valve in oil pump and such problems can be. Of course, these are just thoughts. Not enough data during the fault.

Hello. I hook up on the subject because I have the same problem. Lupo 1.0 MPI This morning, in the cold, the car did not start, more precisely it fires for a second and immediately goes out, as if it was choking. After the engine is turned off, a hiss is heard under the bonnet. He hasn't crashed, he has smoked with an arrow. Fuel feeds, dry engine, oil normal. Anyone have any ideas what this could be?

A year has passed, the temperature dropped below 0 again and the problem again. Lupo doesn't want to smoke. Although not always.
Two weeks ago for the first time. I waited a few days, the temp jumped to + 5 * C, charged the battery, shot many times, finally fired. Heap of white smoke from the pipe (maybe flooded). Holding my leg on gauze, I waited for the rotation to stabilize, the smoke let go and the smoke was still burning.
Today she refused to obey her wife again. I went, filming, actually does not smoke. I have connected a computer, standard errors (all-year-round), i.e.

I deleted, the error returned, I deleted, the error returned, I deleted and the error did not return.
I turn the starter, I feel that they are willing to start. A few more attempts and fired, although I have to keep my foot on the gas because it goes out. Another attempt, fired and smokes.
But that doesn't solve the problem. It disappoints at the least expected moment!
I will add that I recently poured some expensive drug to bind water in the fuel. So I exclude freezing of the fuel itself.
Someone told me there might be an engine coolant sensor.
Someone else that it may be a freezing emphysema.
Or maybe replace the cables (candles replaced)?
Or is it a case related to the above error? I cleaned the throttle several times. The error returns sooner or later, unfortunately.
    Advice on what to do!
The wife is nervous, afraid to go, that she will go out. I'm on my nerves, in general at this toddler ...

You should see the VCDS temperature sensor, so excluding it is a matter of a few minutes.

I have the same symptoms with 1.0 mpi lupo, have you managed to fix the problem?

no, it didn't, because it's warm. and how warm is the symptomatic lack.
but I think it is the fault of her being thrown back and collapsed

I have the same. It fired several times in cold and damp conditions, the battery died yesterday, but it fired on the starter, today with two NIC starters. Twisted about 20 times.
    Two additional symptoms:
Earlier, when there was a problem, the engine for a moment, literally a fraction of a second, weakened at the revolutions as if it was jamming, and then from the hood you could hear: cycle cycle cycle as if a spark was skipping.
Today, with the problem, you could hear a squeak as if to deflate the balloon.

Is the question of the questioner resolved?

In my case, the culprit was the fuel pump, a broken outlet in the form of a plastic tube.

Topic summary

The VW Lupo 1.0 experienced a sudden no-start issue despite having a good battery, spark, and fuel supply. Initial troubleshooting included checking the immobilizer with a second key, inspecting spark plugs, and confirming fuel delivery. Users suggested potential causes such as timing belt issues, shaft sensor failure, and thick oil affecting oil pressure. One user noted that the car started again when temperatures rose, raising concerns about recurring cold weather issues. Error codes from the VCDS indicated problems with basic settings and idle speed regulation. Another user identified a broken fuel pump outlet as the culprit in their similar case. Overall, the discussion highlighted various diagnostic approaches and potential mechanical failures affecting the engine's performance.
