The thing is that I received the 8GB micro SDHC micro card in the set and after inserting it into this laptop it does not detect it at all. Welcome. If this is an old reader, it may not support SDHC / SDXC cards, only old SD cards. Check with another SDHC card if the reader works, if not then the solution to the problem will be buying another reader that supports such cards.

You didn't get the reader just an SD adapter. A new driver was needed for your built-in reader to correctly recognize the SDHC card.
