Canon MG5650 Printer Error B203: Ink Container Replacement & Head Movement Issue

Unfortunately, my head is fixed. The strap is clean, but I cleaned it with isopropanol, no difference. I read about closing the housing halfway up the left-hand head. But I do not understand when to close it. She reaches halfway, i.e. sets to remove the inks. When I close it halfway, the head will go any further to this place, and the error will not disappear. I will add that the error appeared after turning the printer on, not when printing like most people. Previously, I had a problem with sticking black ink and I was about to exchange for the originals, because my hands drop with these replacements, the colors differ significantly from the actual ones when printing photos on photo paper (other on the original, other on the ActiveJet refills from the bottle, others on replacement containers from ActiveJet). Unfortunately for late; /

It is not permanently mounted. This lock with colored stickers is pulled towards you and the head releases from the clamp. Isopropanol will not dissolve the canon. You close the lid in the moment when the head more or less passes the bottom of the carriage while driving to the left.

Actually, I managed to remove the head :) When I bought the printer, I read reviews about it and there was an incorrect information that the Canon MG5650 was fixed and it is not possible to easily make it easier. Puki what I helped her for a while in isopropanol, but I'm going to buy a special liquid. The error was cleared by closing the flap the first time the head was moved to the left, while the logo on the printer screen was still displayed. I probably jammed the head with black pigment dye instead of black pigment.

Attention, these heads must not be warmed above 45'C so washing with warm liquids with thermal caution. And I suppose that a friend like farmazone like cleaning with isopropanol read on the net. A heated head cleaning fluid and even water alone do wonders. But the water must be demineralized or double distilled.

    Repaired :)
I took out the head, twisted 2 screws and the head with the heater immersed for an hour in the liquid cleansing the heads. The second part, i.e. the plastic where the inks are, was rinsed in hot water. I turned and mounted everything in the printer along with new original inks. The error could not be eliminated before the new inks were installed, it returned with the next start of the printer. After inserting new inks, it helped turning the printer on with the lid open and closing the lid when the cart went to the left (halfway past the road, but it did not finish).
I will add that initially there was a problem with the printout after repair, I had to run "clean head cleaning" 10 times. With this demolition, I recommend putting the ink in by force.

Was not it better to use a syringe with a rubber band for the heads and to suck the ink through the heads to get rid of the air? I use a vakum pump. You can also put the ink heads on a paper or paper towel and wait until the ink begins to reflect on the touch.

I did not have the right eraser, and put the printhead with the inks is impossible, because the ink lock is in the printer, not in the removed head.

How can you not? You put the carcasses into the head and fasten with a rubber band and stick to it, I do it. You can always hold it manually but it takes a while.

Hello, I was able to revive the printer and print in black and color ink, 3 days I tried various things including head cleaning, nozzles for removing pampers, ink with pampers, washing and drying pampers, etc. etc. I also used the method sealing the contacts on the head described here:
    kierkowski.com/canon-mg5650-blad-b203-b200-naprawa/?fbclid=IwAR3BbWyIRcyWoRvO6TXfhHLr0kNK9dwRnvGjDVS06DKDGjR2RQYe94SHoEw

It helped - but as it is written, the black large container was unusable. And the solution was to glue these contacts with a long tape, unveil the front flap (press the cover closure sensor) and on the exposed cover I printed the document black (when the contacts were sealed, the printer issued a blank sheet) and during printing I pulled the tape, discovered the contacts and the printer started print ... I printed so many pages, cleaned the head, calibrated and no error. Probably when I turn off the printer and turn on the problem will appear again, but at the moment I use as much as I can from yesterday and do not disconnect the printer.

I really tried many things, and in my case I ended up with the simplest repair (wear and tear):

    1) manual head cleaning, similar to the instructions in the support youtube dot com / watch? V = c60JBO_kp-o
    2) after cleaning the B203 error still occurred (I could not complete the procedure in p. 1 by performing automatic cleaning), but I settled the error reset (I am not sure 100% how the procedure looked, because now, without error, the truck behaves differently , and other messages appear on the screen, but I remember so):
    a) opening the printer cover
    b) turning on the printer
    c) turning off the printer (head parks max on the right)
    d) turning the printer back on - the head makes small movements to the left and to the right and then travels a long time to the left - after covering half of the road we close the cover
    3) the error disappears, printing is possible, I do pro forma automatic cleaning and completes the actions

I did not need to initialize the printer with original cartridges, I replaced only a few empty containers with full ones, so that this would not be an additional problem. Good luck!

Also, I am (un) happy owner of MG5750 and I also got errors B203 and B204 a few days after firmware update. The method of closing the printer flap when the cartridge moves to the left does not work for me. Yes, the error disappears for a moment and I can move freely through the menu, but as soon as I choose an action related to printing, i.e. head cleaning or automatic head calibration, the printer works for a while, then it goes silent and the error B204 appears again. The head is currently taking a bath in warm water, but I doubt that it will work. Particularly considering that I also used the method of sticking pins, which caused no errors but also the inability to print with black ink. Reading this thread, I am more and more convinced that manufacturers are actually deliberately releasing updates that sabotage or prevent printer operation. I will never buy Canon again, but I wonder if there is any printer company that does not follow this disgusting practice and if there is even one manufacturer that does not make printers designed to break down the best day after losing the warranty. Is there anyone who can comment on this?

Hello, I have the same problem as a friend above. Error 203 disappears but 204 appears, did anyone manage to solve this problem without replacing the printhead?

All you have to do is remove the printhead (this can be easily done by folding up the cover and removing the print cartridges) and sealing the contacts
For me the problem was black and you need to glue 3 pins from the left in the first row:

I understand that then you will be able to print in black only with photo ink?

When printing, you must select the print mode as PHOTOS or select the paper type as [other photo paper] so that the printer does not use the blocked head with the contacts stuck.

Hello everyone .... it turned out a bit different for me half a year ago they turned off the power and the printer (5650) for about 2 weeks was Offline, later I wanted to print something and noticed that it did not work, turned on, printed a few pages and at some point I think after the printout, it went out to amen ... attempts to check the power supply itself, the cable, etc. did not help ... and so it has remained until today .... because I bought a second one with a B203 error in order to translate the electronics-board itself.
First, I got along with this newly purchased head from the B203, cleaning the head with a syringe and liquid - it did not help, replacing the head with the old one - the B203 did not help ... so further translating the electronics to the old .... and what B203 why? ? was this error recorded on the Flesh album itself or how? because with an old printer I had no problem with errors until it went out forever :)
... so keep fighting tips among others from this post about starting on an open flap, etc. head replacement, contact cleaning and the topic ended - the second turned off at amen.
At the moment I am (not) happy owner of two MG 5650 pieces, I probably won't buy the third one :) Fortunately, the case is saved by MG6150 from the second or third hand, but it works at the time ...
Any idea regarding saving the record is welcome ...

Thanks! It worked fine for me!
Does it mean that the black print is impossible?
Does the printer only consume color cartridges?
What other consequences does this action have?
    Best regards, thanks again!

I have a problem, like most in this topic, only that I have no error and the printer has stopped printing completely black, I would say that it was from the dish for the day and I do not know if the head has fallen or something else. Cleaning the nozzles does nothing but get rid of the ink. Washing the head also did not do anything. I will add that the original inks were used in the printer.
Can any of you tell me where to look for the problem?

Hi, I am also struggling with the same problem as the rest, except that I have an additional problem.
Namely, like others, it started with error B203, I taped the appropriate contacts and I was able to print everything using the photo paper option. Some time passed, I forgot about the fact that I had to select the photo option and I was fiddling with the head - I took off the tape covering the contacts, put it back on, only later I remembered about this photo paper setting, but I couldn't print anything at all, even with 3 tapes taped. + contacts using the photo paper option.
I ordered a new print head, installed B203 from scratch and there was nothing I could do, I followed the advice on this topic - bypassing the error by opening and closing the cover when turning it on - the printer came to life, I could clean it, I could print everything without any problems and without setting the paper photo, but after a few minutes the error appeared again, so I again avoided it and wanted to perform thorough cleaning several times. During this operation, the printer suddenly turned off and could not be turned on again - no response to the power button. Several minutes passed (with the power cable disconnected), I tried again and this time the printer turned on normally.
This situation has happened to me several times - when I turn on the printer, error B203 appears, I bypass it, start cleaning, and during cleaning it suddenly cuts off the power completely, the printer cannot be turned on, I have to unplug the power cable, a few minutes pass, I connect the cable and only responds to the button.
If the printer turns itself off and I do not unplug the power cable, it cannot be turned on even after 30 minutes.
What could it be, where to look for a solution?
I hate to throw away this printer, when it does print, it prints perfectly, I have a new print head :)

[edit] I don't know if it's a problem with the head itself, I replaced it with an old one and printing on photo paper works on it again. I'm returning it to the Chinese, but I'm wondering where to buy a fully functional head.

Topic summary

The Canon MG5650 printer is experiencing a persistent B203 error following an ink container replacement. Users report that the error often appears after firmware updates, leading to speculation about intentional obsolescence by Canon. Solutions discussed include using original ink cartridges, cleaning the print head, and attempting to reset the printer by manipulating the cover during startup. Some users have successfully revived their printers by cleaning the print head with specialized solutions or by sealing contacts to bypass the error. However, many express frustration with Canon's customer support and the cost of repairs, leading some to consider switching to other brands like Epson.
