    Hello.
Will the allegro caliper for PLN 17 with an accuracy of 0.02 mm be a good indication? Is it better to invest in something more expensive / better? The caliper will be used for small measurements, e.g. checking the size of a drill.

I think it will be suitable for small housework

If you will use it to check the diameter of a drill, it will probably work. After all, drill bits have sizes such as 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5, etc., so even if your result is distorted, you will get closer.

It's interesting what my colleague wrote above, because I have access to drills every 0.1mm?.

In home DIY, it will work better than 0.1mm, and yes, no
you will be able to get it without specialized machines and tools

Did your colleague hear about the diameters of the threading holes?

    It should do.
Such small measurements can be made with a simple caliper.
You must remember that each caliper is "fragile" and prone to damage. Do not put such a caliper under a pile of drills / keys etc. because irreparable faults will occur.

    Don't throw a caliper
Do not hammer any nails with it c: (little sister got a toy like this once)
Please respect the caliper and it will serve you for several years.

It will be fine, but remember that most of these cheap electronic calipers discharge the batteries at an alarming rate - the switch only turns off the display. Also, after finishing work, it is worth removing the battery from the caliper. On the other hand, a mechanical caliper must be known to use ;)

I would add one more thing to my reservations - do not use the caliper jaws as a stylus.

For normal use, take an electronic caliper.
For more accurate measurements, look at the micrometer.

I recently bought an electronic caliper on the Allegro for PLN 30 and it is irreplaceable for basic measurements.

As electronic as possible, you will even be able to measure winding wires

Topic summary

The discussion evaluates the Allegro caliper priced at PLN 17, which offers an accuracy of 0.02 mm, primarily for small measurements like drill sizes. Participants generally agree that it is suitable for home DIY tasks, especially for measuring standard drill bit sizes. However, they caution about the fragility of electronic calipers and the need for careful handling to avoid damage. Some users recommend considering more expensive options or mechanical calipers for higher accuracy, while others share positive experiences with similar electronic calipers for basic measurements. Concerns about battery life in electronic models are also noted, suggesting that users should remove batteries after use to prolong lifespan.
