A few days ago we bought a 43F501HG2W69 4K UHD TV. In addition to watching tv, we would like to be able to use it as a high resolution monitor for HP Elitebook 8570p laptop with Windows 10 64 bit installed.
To connect the laptop to the TV I bought a Display Port 1.2 => HDMI 4k cable, which according to the seller should allow 4k image transmission from the computer to the tv.
I was able to connect my laptop to the TV, I have picture and sound on the TV, but the picture is in Full HD, not 4k. I don't see any resolutions higher than HD in Windows screen settings. Whereas in the laptop specification: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c02948215#N102F6 it is clear that the 8570p model through DisplayPort can send 2560 x 2048, 30-bit image color at 60 Hz, but somewhere else on the network I found that it also supports 4k, but at 30 Hz.
So I installed the AMD drivers (non-whql-64bit -now-radeon-crimson-16.2.1-win10-win8.1-win7-feb27.exe), but in the detailed settings "Properties (Digital Flat Panel)" I found the information: " Maximum reported resolution: 1920x1080 ", from which I understand that it is the tv that informs the card that there is a limit.
In the TV settings: Menu / Settings / Sources I also tried to change the Hdmi1 port mode from regular to advanced, but it had no effect.
So, what should I do to be able to enjoy a resolution higher than Full HD on 4k tv under Windows 10?
    Regards
    Grzegorz

Have you switched the image display only to an external screen (tv)?

    4K is 3840 × 2160, so the laptop doesn't support it.
You can still at most in the Radeon Card Settings, Screen tab try to create a custom resolution.

Purchase a computer with a suitable 4K graphics card, or replace it with what is a graphics card that 4K supports.

Apparently yes, but in the resolution settings I do not see higher resolution than Full HD. I tried to add a non-standard 4k resolution, but without success. In the evening I will try to add 2560x2048.

    And also: https://www.startech.com/be/AV/Displayport-Co...s/active-displayport-to-hdmi-adapter~DP2HD4KS
    Quote:
The DP2HD4KS DisplayPort to HDMI adapter enables you to connect a DisplayPort-equipped desktop or laptop computer, such as the HP EliteBook 8570p / 8470p, to an HDMI display. This adapter is compatible with DisplayPort 1.2 & HDMI 4K @ 30 Hz and as a result can support video resolutions up to Ultra HD (4K) ...

So using this adapter you can have 4k with 8570p. Are they pulling customers?

So even if the laptop supports a higher resolution than FullHD, but less than 4k, I will not get it on a 4k tv?

Or maybe you can buy some external 4k support card? Will it be good: http://www.i-tec.pl/?t=3&v=377? Are there any cheaper alternatives?

This is not an adapter but an adapter / converter - firstly, secondly, it only writes that it supports resolutions up to 4K, not that it forces them or anything.

There are some minimum requirements for 4K.

It's an adapter, not a graphics card - you still need the right graphics card.
That I will not mention a powerful processor that will convert 4K encoding.

Cheaper? - rather many times more expensive and the price of such an external graphics card for a laptop, together with the casing and power supply may exceed the cost of $ 1,000 !!!
And the computer must have a Thunderbolt port.
    Search under eGPU.

In my opinion, the game is not worth the candle.

I tried to set the resolution 2560x1444 as attached, but after clicking Verify I have a black screen. Maybe those sync settings that I took from the cap are incorrect?
