    Welcome.

I have a GP from 2006. A factory radio is installed in the car. Today I want to remove the battery and replace it with one recommended by the manufacturer (the previous owner threw a 45Ah battery into 1.3 diesel). Basic question - is the radio working now, can you read the code from it so that you can enter it in the future?

Will the radio need a code to restart after disconnecting the battery?

I do not know how it is in this model but you will not read the code from the radio.
You need to rip the memory with the programmer and then calculate the code.
If you do not have a code and the radio can call it after disconnecting the power supply, take someone to help and replace the battery with the rectifier connected to the clamps or the alternator or connect the starter cables to the second car.
Be careful not to short the plus or minus terminals.

There should be a code in the car's manual.

I got the car papers, but the code is missing. So I will try with a rectifier, although it's a half measure. Thanks for the help.

As far as I know this Grande Punto factory radio has no code.

Be careful with the rectifier, better a second battery, it can be poor.

I have a GP from 2006 with a factory radio, steering wheel control etc. and the code is definitely missing. The radio does not block after disconnecting the battery.

In GP, if the radio goes to your car, it does not request a code (can communication).

Unless the radio was completed with the cancheck removed.

The code will ask after putting in another car.

So it would turn out that the code will not be :) Factory radio, steering wheel control. So I'll risk and disconnect the battery and check.

    Thank you for your help.

There was no code in Punto 2. He is in GP most.
Unplugging the battery for a moment does not cause the need to insert the code. As I remember, I am not mistaken.

According to me, Grande Punto has no code on the factory radio controlled from the steering wheel.

And why don't you check it? when I bought new from the salon I know.
I bought in 2009 and there was a code card for the radio. I used it after a week as an additional key with a remote control coded in ASO. After that the radio called for a code. So it's coded without it, I probably wouldn't see it. Previously it was Punto 2 and I thought it would be the same here. At least she was. I don't know about new years. But I don't think they change.

I come back with information. I replaced the battery and combined with a fuse box. So far the radio has not asked for a code.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the Fiat Grande Punto (GP) from 2006 and the procedure for replacing its battery while addressing concerns about the factory radio's code. Users clarify that the factory-installed radio typically does not require a code after battery disconnection, as it is designed to communicate with the vehicle's systems. Some users suggest checking the car's manual for the code, while others confirm that the radio does not block after a battery change. A few users mention the possibility of needing a code only if the radio is moved to a different vehicle. The original poster successfully replaced the battery without encountering a code request from the radio.
